Non-Lovecraft Lovecraft: Pallinghurst Barrow by Grant Allen and Lot 249 by Arthur Conan Doyle. Not quite as hysterical, but not far off.
In other literary news, I’ve found out that Bristol Museum do a “La Belle Dane Sans Merci” tea towel, so I’ve ordered one of those. Four stars. Could only be happier if my beer delivery turned up.

The ne plus ultra of Lovecraft racism has to be Medusa’s Coil, in which, after battling an ancient eldritch horror of unspeakable evil and etc, etc, so on and so forth, the narrator instead absolutely loses his shit about someone pretending to be white. Dude’s priorities are fucked up.

I always used to bang on about Thomas Ligotti on the Gamesblog - the old Gamesblog ... As an alternative to H.P Lovecraft. Not racist. Only vaguely similar to Lovecraft really, but awesome. I mean I guess that's my personal opinion ... |

Re: Thomas Ligotti, I got Teatro Grottesco, hoping for some non-racist Lovecraftesque thrills. I liked the one about the guy in the dingy boarding house in Wolverhampton. I did not enjoy the one about the guy who turns into a spider.

Since some blue sky and sunshine dared to show itself, I went for a walk down to the coast at lunch. Big ship anchored off Saltdean, the "Scot Leader" apparently. Wasn't send down here by the northern contingent, was it?
Lunchblog: smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, with a squeeze of lemon juice and a bit of cracked pepper. Lovely stuff.

I have just played some Rocket League. Fair to say I did not do very well. I did score one goal though. Technically I scored three goals, but two of them were own goals. I am slightly surprised I wasn't reported by either of my team mates.
As far as I could tell no racism occurred though. So that's something.

I see the EFL have hardened their stance against COVID testing by throwing Leyton Orient out of the League Cup for allowing Tottenham to pay for unnecessary* tests for them.
*Unnecessary in the sense that the rules did not require them, not in the sense of them not being needed to stop the spread of infection.
