Rig chat: I installed Windows 10 last night and have hooked up the various case cables to the motherboard. I just need to add the second set of 3 fans and do some cable management and my sweet rig is more or less there.

Games. Spent a lot of yesterday playing LOTR LCG - I’ve been trying out the latest expansion, with some experimental decks. I tend to play dual handed - so use my regular deck with Elrond - and I’m trying out a Hobbit deck which is great for questing but can’t hit any of the baddies.
Tech. Prime Day and an Apple iPhone event - yesterday needed a trigger warning. I bought some Philips Hue light strips and then tried to justify an HomePod mini in every room of the house.

ASUS: "3-5 Dead Pixels is acceptable" Not even at this price... Nice monitor. However this is a high refresh screen, is that something you really need? It tends to be FPS junkies which need to use high hz stuff. For the same money maybe you could get a 60 hz 4k screen. |

You're pretty much right - I guess I am beginning to understand that different monitors do different things. So, I would like a colour true 37" "60hz 4k screen" with at least two DP and 1 hdmi sockets and don't care what I pay, but it must have a v. high probability of arriving in one piece. So what would you (and others) recommend? The card on my main rig is a MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING X 8GB GDDR5X Graphics Card. My beautifully silent backup rig, which I use mainly for classical music, or emergencies has a Gigabyte Nvidia Gt 730 Graphics Card (2GB, DDR3, 64 Bit, PCI-E)... I'm a bit lost tbh... but if it's possible I don't want to accept that I am never getting better, so I would like to be able to play Elite Dangerous with it on the main rig, albeit in some sort of non-PvP mode. |

Chumbles the 1080 can produce 4k but you'll probably have low framerates, you may want to bump up to a 2080. Digital Foundry analysis<edit>and if you do you need to make sure you have a large enough power supply! Upgrading is a slippery slope.

I am not a team player.
Solo suits my particular set of skills.
When I play duos I lack discipline. It is noticeable that I play better once Shenguin is dead and I can treat it as a solo game.
I am much less likely to charge headlong in to a fight without thinking about it or to piss around until I get caught by the storm.
There are a few games we have won where we were both alive at the end, but mostly we operate a designated survivor system.
