Gamesblog: I really shouldn’t leave the PS4 in sleep mode, considering I haven’t played on it for a few weeks. The PS4 apparently uses about 8.5 watts in sleep mode, which would be 54kWh per year, probably costing about £9.75 if it's just on sleep. On the basis that the UK national grid electricity supply has about 0.31kg of CO2 and CO2 equivalents per kWh, that's equivalent to about 3kg of CO2 release per year. It's not that much, given the UK government's 2020 target per person per year was 10.5 tonnes, and the world average per person per year is about 5.3 tonnes. However, it is a mostly unnecessary and avoidable cost to the environment. I have mine set to go into standby mode automatically so it can continue with downloads, but I also usually turn it off if it's not downloading, and I have all my TV and AV and PS4 on a single plug, so I can easily turn it off over night etc, so I know there's no standby use of leccy. I am a very boring cunt though, so there is that.

Right, I had an unexpectedly busy day, including a round trip of about 40 miles to the nearest B&Q,* and only finished working work at about 11pm. G'night everyone.
*Which also allowed me to visit Sainsbury's and buy bottles of Marston's Old Empire Ale. Mmmmm.
