I stayed up until 1 last night reading comments under a Guardian article on Donald Trump's impeachment. I just wanted to get to the end ...
Two hours after I got to sleep I was woken up by a hullabaloo from the street outside. There was a man raging at the world. I couldn't make out what he was sayng / shouting, except once, when he just started listing his body parts.
It was going on for two hours.
Today has been uneventful ...

There is a lot of 3am ruckus around here. It's too much. When it's intentional - just aimed at causing a hullaballoo and annoying people - it really grinds my gears. I'm considering buying a pair of LED glowing glasses, a grim-reaper outfit and some smoke bombs. I will become ... a daemon.

You need to get out of the Big Smoke, lazy. Nestle into a comfortable suburb somewhere, far from the lights and malarkey of the big city. Or perhaps a country retreat? Open the curtains in the morning, and stare upon fields for miles. Or the sea? Finally buy that lighthouse. |

Hello. Bad news this morning from the hospital. A nurse phoned me to tell me that Mr Tent Rooster has again been poorly and has been given antibiotics for what is most likely another chest infection. At least this time he is able to talk to them. Not being able to visit is aggravating. Keef's list of greatest handheld game consoles is right up my alleyway but I couldn't concentrate on writing a comment. However, I appreciated how amipal snuck in an Amiga connection. Snow: no show. I was under the impression it wasn't 'just Dutch' the way Scots isn't 'just English' with an accent.
Apparently I'm wrong.

I get the impression that most dialects are much less distinct than they were before cars and radio/TV.
Scots has plenty of words of it's own, but I'd regard it as a dialect of English not a distinct language. I've never felt in Scotland or talking to a Scot that they spoke a separate language - just that they used a few odd words and phrases.
In many ways it's easer to understand a Scot than a Yammer (someone from Cradley) (not wittering rubbish about the Albion, using proper pronouns helps) and Black Country is clearly a dialect, not a separate language
Flemish is in much the same relationship to Dutch I think. There is more that links them than separates them.
There are a whole loads of rubbish Dutch-German hybrids around as well.
