Somewhere along the line scubar you've clearly made the absolute rookie error of demonstrating competence at basic DIY. When we moved just over a year ago, Mrs Faceless made her feelings very clear: "there's no fucking way you're ruining another house by trying to do anything yourself. Pay someone who knows what they're doing" Step 2 is to make sure you never have any money to pay a professional.

Morning!
Cricket continues to go well. Marvellous!
Still freezing cold out, but the sun is out and it looks picturesque with the snow. Beautiful!
And it's Friday. Wahey!
*sends positive vibes to everyone via the power of electronic osmosis*

Hello, Snow, no. Games, no. Books, yes finished a Raymond feist. Library apps vary greatly in usability and selection. TV, not much, watched landscape artist with preferred mammal. Hope everyone's relations are doing well today. Did they manage to lose baby's police record in the latest snafu? Keef still producing articles for the G at a greater rate than keza?

The view out the office window this morning. A thick layer of cloud sits below the house further down the valley. The snow seems to be melting now.

Tbf to Keza she has a fairly new child to keep her occupied. stxdpr What app? Borrow box/RS Digital/Overdrive? Again tbf, you're limited by what is on offer by publishers and also budget of the local Authority. Some publishers won't go near as they'd rather just sell to Jeff. Ebooks bought for these platforms can be a lot more expensive than print/epub for public use and often have metered loans ( they expire after 5 loans)

Morning all!
Gamesblog: nope.
TVblog: finished Aunty Donna’s House of Fun. Utter madness. 4* Then watched the first episode of Another Life. The script and direction are bang-average. And the only person who should be on the ship is Starbucks.
Snowblog: none.
OTTM: partner’s 40th birthday is just over a month away. She’s always wanted to do the Trans-Siberian railway, so investigating all that that entails. But obviously, because of the coronavirus, there’s no point actually booking anything... plus need to sort out flights/visas. Again, no point just yet. So it’s currently looking like she’ll just get a model train for her 40th from me.

Current library is Cloud library. Previously had overdrive which changed to Libby, and then borrowbox from a different house.

Dirty Bibliotheca. Sacking library staff one self issue machine at a time...
I only half joke.
If you join Oxfordshire libraries online they have overdrive/libby and pressreader.
They let folk join from anywhere in the UK.

Hullo.
Played a 'Forzathon' last night with some random online dudes. It's basically a series of events (speed traps, jumps etc), which you collaboratively try and win. I don't think the team were impressed with my orange MGB GT.
Also watched some Toast of London.
No snow.

Not sure I wholly believe you can delete thousands of records on a database just like that. Even I'm aware of backups.
With people getting a little more IT literate they need to find a better excuse for "we were hacked". Perhaps the dog ate the server?

I also have suspicions that maybe GCHQ gets a copy of everything and doesn't delete things when popo do. Just to be on the safe side.

Though GCHQ have probably moved on to Vista so the data might not be backwards compatible to the police.

I once had 2000 records lost when my database corrupted itself. Don't worry folks, I still had the original hard copies. That was a fun 2 weeks re-inputting all that shit. A strict backup regime was implemented by the boss (me) on err.. me.

Morning, Movers and Groovers.
I find some slight irony that a fair number of those records lost in a 'weeding exercise' might well relate to the simple possession of a bit of personal ganja.
Snow - no Work - Yo Games - no
covidblog - patient x is reportedly eating toast, and has daughter on way round to take down the Xmas tree and decs. Daughter is at low risk, as she was the one who likely passed around the bug, along with the turkey and sprouts.

I have cleared a path on the drive and gritted up to and around the car. Felt all manly, then PM lambasted me for using up all the grit.

I too cleared the path and gritted. Mainly so Asda wouldn't scrape stuff up the side of the car. I guaranteed the delivery would come early by putting hot water in the Aeropress 15 mins before our slot. Hey Presto! No... Asda.

So it looks like I can lead the chat in any direction now.
Books Peter V Brett The Painted Man It is a book with(out) Maps I very much enjoyed it. Would recommend ****
The Collapsing Empire John Scalzi Nice exciting sci-fi Would recommend ****
Abandoned Places It's mostly piccies, but a really interesting coffee table book. If you had an aeropress it would be ideal.
