You are all correct. Eating frozen chips is a disgusting abomination. One of Mrs F's mates casually dropped it into the conversation on their group chat earlier. Something along the lines of "lazy Sunday eating frozen chips straight from the bag." It's turns out there was an even split among those who thought it was completely normal, and those who were quite rightly appalled.

Oven chips are an abomination. Even deep fried they are a pale comparison to the original product. Raw/frozen is all kinds of wrongness.

We quite often have oven chips, cooked in the oven, and they're fine, not as good as real chips obvs but still nice.

Picked up a potato chipper the other week. We are yet to use it. Only have an air fryer to cook them in though.

I bake chips.
Chop up some pealed potatoes, squeeze the moisture out, pop ‘em on a baking sheet, put some sunflower oil and salt on them, then whack ‘em in the oven for half an hour on gas Mark 7.
Boodiful.

Ours is the 3.2L version of THIS ONE.Got it in an Amazon sale for £36. It's probably my favourite kitchen appliance. Great for cooking chicken, burgers, chips etc. A genuinely great buy. Evening First peel some potatoes, then slice lengthwise and cut into chips, heat some oil in a deep pan and flash fry for 3 mins until par cooked. immediately rinse with cold water until cooled and dry them, place into a freezable bag and freeze. when needed remove from the freezer and use from frozen. Otherwise known as homemade McCain's oven chips, sometimes a chip is just a chip. An Air Fryer is a good idea, I might look into one myself. Look at me, doing a Felice.   OTTM: finished all of ST TNG and just started ST DS9, afterwards it will be ST Voyager. It's going to be a long road. |

Aren't air fryers basically just small ovens? Yes. Marketed as if they were healthy deep fat friers. Extremely deceptive when you think about it. |
