Is that really a 300hz refresh screen? I know a few 240 hz monitors came out last year for hardcore FPS gamers.

Taiwan should have declared independence shortly after the culmination of the civil war. They can’t do so now, due to the strength of the PRC’s military.

What’s wrong with a PAL-resolution monitor running at 15khz? You people are spoilt.

I think they should do it. Taiwan. Do it. Coordinate it with Kashmir.
Sweet release....

Hi Gaymez (night time), restarted Fallout 4 for a third time this week, but this time using the, so far, bug free PS+ Collection version on my PS5. Made it again to the museum and this time got to have rich chat with the Minutemen gang. The old woman was a bit odd. I then put on a power suit and grabbed a mini gun from a crashed aircraft so I could clear the town of any remaining Raiders. Easy peasy? Well it was until a Deathclaw appeared. No problem, locked on several times using VATS and shot it with the mini gun. Only problem was it had no affect and I was quickly smashed to pieces. Perhaps one to run away from until I'm more buff. I had similar issues with the Deathclaw, it feels as if it's a setup. I had bigger issues with bloatflies. Bastards.

Is that the one that comes up from the sewers? Really grabs your attention doesn't it.
I died a few times to that one - think in the end I hid in the church and shot it repeatedly in the toes through the open doorway until it died of frustration.
OTTM..... Jab done.

I pay about £6 a month for geforcenow, to be able to play most steam games through the internet. I actually have quite a beefy laptop but it’s a Mac so it’s terrible at playing games.
I think that probably works out cheaper than buying an up to date gaming laptop every few years.
Wouldn’t recommend it for anything where seconds count (like laser quest) but for slower paced stuff it’s top banana.

Most visual improvements in gaming are wasted on me. I had this experience again recently at the announcement of the re-release of Skyward Sword. The online commentators I was watching the presentation with immediately noticed that the game had been upgraded to 60 fps. I can't tell the difference. I can just about see that 60 fps is smoother in side by side comparisons. Even higher fps rates? Nice, but total overkill for me.
My main problem with monitors is the constant battle against dust specks/smears/rogue hairs. Drives me up the wall.
I do approve of the RGB lights on Felice's gaming laptop. Who needs insane refresh rates whilst playing an actual video game when you can just be sitting there mesmerised, staring at the pretty colours?

I don't really mind what a game looks like, though the bad graphics of my Spectrum +2 always got me down.
When games slow down or have really bad frame-rates ... (like Valheim sometimes) ... That is disheartening.

I used to be a sucker for games with good graphics on the Spectrum. I'd get them on the basis of the screenshots regardless of what the reviews said about the gameplay. Couldn't believe the first driving game where you could see the car/bike going up and down hills on the road - possibly Enduro Racer? Frank Bruno's Boxing, Way of the Exploding Fist, Dun Darach, Trap Door, Jack and the Beanstalk. Tremendous graphics.

So many Spectrum games were monochrome.
Why? It didn't seem fair.

Fantastic. That's how you port an arcade game.

I am lurking outside the covid jab place, everyone else coming in and out is much older than me. I wonder if some clerical fuck up has resulted in me being called up now.

Quazatron was in like actual fucking 3D! It only used 1 colour per level though. Plus black for the lines. Although there was a clever effect for the electric bolt

Fighter Bomber and Stunt Car Racer also had full polygons. Have a feeling they may also have been in full monochrome.

The Spectrum had very limited colours and struggled with having two colours pass each other. There weren't many actual black and white games for it. However the limited colour palette did allow me to use a B&W TV in my bedroom I inherited from my grandmother without feeling I was missing out too much
Sweev'os World and Spindizzy were also in 3D. It was highly advanced tech.

I remember a game for the zx81 that used black and white sprites close together so with the wonders of crt TV's and striping effect it looked colour.
Cool story grandad. What was Napoleon like?

Sometimes I feel old, then I come here and you’re all chuntering away about Spectrum ZX, Chuckie Egg and the like, and I think thank god I’m not as old as you dinosaurs.
