hi You good? I'm ok. I'm fine. No it's ok. I'm alright. I'm sort of still mulling over the acts of generosity from our neighbours. I mean - I have lived here for five years. My girlfriend has lived here for over ten years. And our neighbours have been there all this time, with the occasional friendly nod as we pass each other by the front door. Now we have these gifts of food. I'm not sure what to make of it. To be honest I'm not always crazy about gifts of food. I feel they come with a light obligation to eat. It's on the same scale, if not at the same end of it, as being a foi gras goose. These neighours are good neighnours though. This isn't a complaint. How about a reciprocal gift with a lot of vegan cheese? Tell them you are vegetarians, not malnourished.

Perhaps I've become unused to social contact. I hear a knock on the door and I want to scurry under the bed.

Jaipur comes from Bakewell you tart. In addition to the Bakewell brewery (which I have visited) the original brewery at Thornbridge hall remains, where they no doubt still churn out Jaipur.

I've eaten Bakewell pudding. Delicious.
Bakewell tart sounds ghastly, it must be for the lower downs.

My girlfriend told the man yesterday we were vegetarian (because he had brought a cooked chicken dish). She said he seemed surprised - maybe because I had eaten the quite possibly meaty pies he had brought over the other day (half of them were cheese and carrot but the other half looked meaty, while tasting mainly of cheese ...) I ate them, hoping the one I was biting into was cheese and carrot. If not then I ate it anyway ... I reciprocated with a gift of Ottolenghi chocolate caramel but I didn't think it would continue. I'm not complaining. It's a nice thing. I'm just not sure I understand it ...

Thornbridge are proper craft beer wankers though Lots of strange little beers, well priced (from their point of view) on sale a the brewery shop. Many of the were delicious. I might need to go back there soon.

I do not think that it is even legal for anyone over 10* not to have had Mr Kipling's Bakewell Tart. Certainly it shouldn't be. Forget this rubbish about making street harassment illegal (it already is) we need to outlaw Tuffers. * months

I might need to go back there soon. A couple are OK - Brother rabbit (a good session beer) & Jaipur (max 2 pints). But I find alot of the others too, erm, floral, if that's the right word, like someone has spilled some Lynx deodorant into the barrel.

Matt Wanksock says the vaccine works with this current variant. The vaccine is giving the virus a hand now? Whose side is he on?

Presents are a bad business all round. Intra-familial Christmas and birthday presents should be the beginning and the end of it. Everyone knows the rules with those. Anything else is profoundly passive aggressive.

These craft beers. Not for me. Most of them taste of crazy hops. Or there are the porters but they tend to be dosed with coffee or chocolate, and come in at around 11 percent. Loony juice.

Loony juice <enthusiastically drunk emoji> It's difficult to remember precisely what. I remember going on a special quiet pre-blog meet Friday drink in Hammersmith. We met in either the Swan or The William Morris. Whichever... It had Jaipur. I had Jaipur. 5 or 6 pints. Then more drinks elsewhere. 2 pints of Jaipur would be a good limit. Most of the rest of the evening is a hazy blur. More pubs, some food. Distinctly second hand the next morning.

I do find that's a problem with Jaipur - it is very floral, like someone has tipped hand sanitizer in it. It also gives me a tremendous belly ache the next day after a few. Some of them are fantastic though, Wild Swan from the pump on hot summer's day is glorious.

Have you eaten the gifted food,?
I have eaten it. I ate the pies - all the pies. Half of them were delicious but the other half had, I think, I'm pretty sure, meat content. I'm just not crazy about meat. I've sort of been, practically, on the whole, vegetarian for a very long time.
Also, even if the food were all deliciously 100 percent vegetarian I would wonder - why the food? Why now?

Good morning
After hearing nothing from them for weeks, I’ve just been informed the my new jobs porn machine is arriving today! Huzzah!
3.5 more days left of my current role, day off on Friday as I will be spending it in floods of tears, devastated about getting another year older.

Lazyb - I thought you lived next to a crack den? Is it the crack people who are bringing you food? Ah no - the people down the corridor had a meth lab - but our immediate neighbours are all good. The food gifting neighbours live opposite. We don't have a huge amount of contact with our neighours normally, so this is a bit of a surprise, because we have all been here some time.

Sheeps is a teen slasher killer now? I thought he was older than that, he's not looking great for his age.
Erm, am I Sheeps' sidekick? Is he the main antagonist, and I'm just his sidekick? This isn't how I thought my life would pan out.
OTTM: I'm in the pub. Inside the pub. Drinking ale. *This is how* I thought my life would pan out.
OTTDM: Happy 21st Scoobs, many happy returns!

I'd like to reassure any of my worried fans that 1) I have been taking regular lateral flow tests recently, and they've all been negative, and 2) I'm socially distanced in this pub, on my own with a book, and 3) Covid rates are very low round here, and have been consistently low for a number of weeks, and 4) I am being covid responsible.
