Hardware chat. Anyone able to offer decent tablet purchasing advice? Not the kind you swallow. I want something that is pleasant to use for reading, mainly scrolling through work stuff. I guess if it can handle a few games I wouldn't object. Or are these things all much of a muchness these days? Crankcaller is probably the tablet expert. Surface pro is best for snorting powders |

I miss 'scallops' in chip shops. Not the bivalves - the battered slices of potato. You don't seem to get them in London.
When I was 13 or 14 I used to do a lot of prank phonecalls. I tried to stop but then people would convince me back into doing them in exchange for 'scallops' from George's Best.
It's sad really. A sad story.

ChippiesI think a lot of Turkish and Greek Cypriots came to the UK in the 1970s. Lots of them set up chip shops/ kebab shops. It’s almost as if something happened in Cyprus in the 1970s. |

The best chippie was run by a nice Chinese couple but they left and it is now run by Piri piri chicken, definitely not up to par. Oh, I don't know, as long as they are staying in business they aren't doing too badly for a bunch of chickens. |

I think I've only had a takeaway maybe four or five times since lockdown. When the Star of Bombay closed it tore my heart out, in a way, and I haven't felt able to love another takeaway again.

FYI (www.health.ny.gov) When chlorine enters the body as a result of breathing, swallowing, or skin contact, it reacts with water to produce acids. The acids are corrosive and damage cells in the body on contact.  |

Every tablet review will compare it to an iPad. Get an iPad.
If you don't want an iPad for some reason, get an iPad.
Or an Amazon fire device or one of the Huawei ones - if you can still get Google play on them.

Ottm. My line manager was complaining that our new work laptops take up space on the desk and why can't we get stands supplied by IT for them.
I am currently 3D printing a vertical stand.
For mine.

Do you have a keyboard and monitor separately so you can dock the laptop?
I had one of those years ago. It was ok. Work liked them. I wouldn't have bothered with it. Just plug the laptop in and use it.

Set up the Pref.Mam. on the NHS App* and they now have a NHS Covid Pass to get into all the events we're not going to, I have to wait another couple of weeks for mine.
