Set up the Pref.Mam. on the NHS App* and they now have a NHS Covid Pass to get into all the events we're not going to, I have to wait another couple of weeks for mine. *on my phone natch. How do you get a covid pass? Cheque payable to Hancock, Johnson & Gove? You register on the app, you need to send a photo id and a recording of yourself reciting a 4 digit number, then after having both vaxs and 2 weeks after the second you can get one from the app, which is a link to a downloadable pdf which basically has a QR code on it. The id check, id+recording, was approved within the hour, mine took a few days though and I just needed to send a selfie. It was all surprisingly seamless.

Surely a computer is going to take up room on the desk. Do you have a keyboard and monitor separately so you can dock the laptop? Her argument was the base unit sat under the monitor and used less space. She kinda has a point. Yeah we've a monitor/kB/mouse/dock. The dock uses a thunderbolt port. Quite nifty wee thing. I've also got another older laptop and desktop for the libraries public network - so having the new laptop on its side will get me a bit of space back. I've not gone down the two monitors route. yet.

Is L'Alba D'Oro still the Edinburgh chippy of choice? I'm rarely down that end of town and havent been there for years. The one thing about the chippys in Edinburgh is they all use the same pre-cut vacuum packed chips, every single one. A lot of the retaurants do too. So none of them ever stand out much for chips.
I dont know why they dont just cut and peel their own potatoes it would be so easy and be way better. Feel like most chippys are in a spiral of fewer customers so they raise prices for deep fried cheap precut potatoes and then people dont want to go and on and on.

I think I've only had a takeaway maybe four or five times since lockdown. When the Star of Bombay closed it tore my heart out, in a way, and I haven't felt able to love another takeaway again. I had about 5000 takeaways over lockdown...to support local business' of course.

Two monitors is great. Full beans wanker. I used to have a full desktop pc with two screens and a laptop.
Since we are paying for IT I just use a laptop. I visit people regularly so it's not a tough choice. A reasonable laptop with a big screen makes more sense.

I did mine a few weeks ago, ID only took a few minutes, left a positive review of the app and got a nice reply from the poor sod whose unenviable job it is to respond to every single one of the largely negative reviews. (If you are looking for an easy way to make someone's day, leave a 5 star review.) I also used the app to link up to my GP and to order repeat prescriptions through it. Works great but is only available in England because no-one is willing to sing "One Britain One Nation" wrapped in a large Union Jack. Traitors, the lot of them. As far as I know NHS Scotland hasn't come up with anything similar (yet).

Apparently the Laptop I bought this year can run Windows 11, which is nice. There's an App at the bottom of the page that you can download to check.

I think the neighbourhood I live in might have fallen into the hands of vigilantes.
There’s a car cruising round the streets - it isn’t police, but it has ‘Rapid Response Unit’ on the side and is decked out in a quasi-constabulary way. The man driving is wearing a black baseball cap and has an Assyrian Macho beard. The car keeps stopping at corners - watching …
