I've been playing a bit of Forza. I spent most of my time chasing sheep around a field in my Mosler MT900S. 4*

Hi! I have a cold. Thanks a bunch, Sajid. Luckily nothing of note is happening tonight. Nope, nothing on the telly. OTTM, eldest got selected for school athletics team for a meeting tonight. Despite it being 100% outside nobody can watch as none of us work for UEFA or go to BBQs in Cornwall. Hopefully the 60,000 heading to Wembley tonight get the memo. OOTTM, following butter chat I swapped out (hi Amipal) my usual clover and tried lurpak spreadable on this mornings toast. Verdict: it was OK. No games. Those spreads tend to separate in the hot coffee, so I always stick to proper butter.

Buttered coffee, what a world. I suppose it's like buttered tea for people who need their caffeine fix. Didn't know that Shenguin was a go-getter Tibetan monk. Put it on the (easy) spreadsheet.

A tennis trophy (very Flondrix and Astra), although it could equally serve as a trophy for the Golden Joystick Awards ... Butter: Lurpak slightly salted. On wholemeal toast. With Marmite ... And in case you are wondering what my current NP2 standing is:

Predictions for the score later? A dire nil nil, then the Danes win on penalties.

OTTM: I’m bloody miserable. Hug? Oh, hang on. You're all self isolating. *Backs off slowly*

OTTM: I’m bloody miserable. Hug? Oh, hang on. You're all self isolating. *Backs off slowly* Gather ‘round, kids… and hear a story as old as time itself… As you may or may not know it’s my brother’s and my birthday on Sunday - and it’s our fortieth. So we’ve got a party organised with a ton of family (within the limits) invited, people we haven’t seen in eighteen-plus months. My son is officially back to school on Tuesday, isolating til then. The letter sent to use by the school says that he has to isolate, but parents are allowed to continue with their daily lives. So I’m theoretically allowed to go. How can I go, and not have my partner and son there? He has no memory of most of these people, having met most when he was a baby. But his cousins, aunt and uncle, and grand parents will be there. He loves spending time with them. I don’t want to go if he and my partner can’t be there with me. As it’s my brother’s birthday too, though, I also want to be there to celebrate with him, as we’ve always done since we were born, and particularly for such a milestone. And so I am torn. Torn between following the letter of the, erm, letter; torn between not wanting to disappoint family; torn with my partner not wanting to disregard the advice. Bloody Natalie Imbruglia.

Sorry amipal that's a bad one. I knew it was your 40th - just didn't realise it was as big a 'do'

Also, how are your existential dread levels about turning 40? Wondering where your life went wrong, and thinking of all the things you regret not doing differently?
Asking for a friend, who definitely isn't also turning 40 next week.

And when is it OK to start drinking? I'm starting at 6. ROAAAAAAARRR! Careful! I can tell you the tale of a friend who started drinking too early and slept through the last ever Jam gig at the Glasgow Apollo. Tbf he woke up for the encore.

As I think I've said before in these hallowed halls...
I had more dread turning 30 than 40. Then realised I could still do all the nonsense I did in my twenties.

Asking for a friend, who definitely isn't also turning 40 next week. Not too bad, actually. I’ve already retreated into my old hobbies of the Amiga and war game miniatures, so at least my partner’s happy that I haven’t gone off with a blonde bimbo or bought a sports car.
