I thought England were going to win up until the end yesterday - the very end. They looked the better team. I thought the lack of ... 'pressing'? by England - in the second half - was part of a plan. A footballing rope-a-dope.
Ah well ... The world is back on its axis. England haven't won. I feel ok with that.

I wish people would call out the Crusader Knights.
That always seems a bit ... I mean it does kind of exclude Muslim England fans.
I did photoshop my face into a Crusader Knight outfit recently but it was only in jest. The Crusader Knight imagery for England. It doesn't sit right with me.

I have the not-very Green Machine back with a fresh MOT. It initially failed on a blown brake light. Total cost to Mr Tids? £49.40. Not bad for a 17 year old car.

I'm thinking of Sean Connery in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but that confuses the issue even more.

I remember that the Crusaders were mainly from France. They were also incredibly cruel, there are accounts of cities being taken which are horrific, even by the standards of the day.
There was an expected level of clemency which they simply weren't bothered with. I know that history tends to diminish thos sort of thing. When I've been in kit I'm very conscious of this.
Would be nice if they dressed as something a bit more accurate and generally nicer.

I was really looking forward to the extra bank holiday. What a pity. First Eurovision, now the football. Clearly it's been Italy's year, and I'm happy for them. That said, I really like the current England team, they are all very talented but also work so well as a team. They've come so close to victory that they will be highly motivated in the World Cup next year. I had the match on but because I was following a live game stream of Trails in the Sky SC at the same time I only got a fleeting impression of what was going on. Eventually the penalty shootout coincided with a lull in the game, i.e. consulting menus and tinkering with builds, and I was able to give the drama my full attention. Congratulations to gongfarmer and his eejits, the deserved winners of the Fantasy Football Cup! Also to the new Second Triumvirate, maybe one of them will turn out to be primus inter pares in the World Cup. As a Bronze Age fan girl I walk away happily with my bronze medal consolation prize. So... how do we fill the football void? Vidja gamez? |

Hangover status is now Amber level. I'm able to focus more on regret and less on nausea.
I had been thinking that with either result yesterday I would be able to have some sympathy for Gareth Southgate or be pleased for him to win it, until I saw he had been talking pish the day before about WW2, Britain being invaded and the Blitz spirit being present at the Germany game. What a fanny.
Yes the assholes are a minority, but nonsense like that in a football context makes these people feel normal.
Also some young angry arseholes decided to topple all the wheelie bins and bottle bins in my street last night, so lots of rubbish and broken glass all over the street.
That aside, I thought England had a good tournament.

Special fried rice at a Cantonese style Chinese takeway means ... a mix of everything. I'm sure that's all Gareth meant.
