I had a similar conversation with a mate of mine about booing the knee. His view was he's fed up of everything nowadays being forced through a lens of culture wars, and can't a football match just be a football match, without every player, commentator and fan having to lecture people on their political views.
Which I do get, up to a point. Booing people for making an anti-racist gesture is still a dick move though.

I read a book about racism and it said I was racist! Just because Iām white. Then it said I was a white supremacist! Because I live in a society where white people have most of the power.
I did broadly agree with the ideas but the definitions were a bit different to the ones I think most people would be going with.
If standing against racism is a stand against social inequality, tied in with social class and the legacy of imperialism, then it is a stand for ā¦ socialism, though maybe not Marxism, and that is at odds with the prevailing liberal / individualist use of the concept, maybe ā¦
