Seems like Freedom's a dirty word here in the Marxist Chatterbox 2.0. I'm sure Kim Jong-un will be pleased to have you. Freedom has a price. Is that what you want Lazybones? Is that what you WANT?

What would you do if you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom?

Have started Broken Sword 5, a touch of nostalgia for the original series. Any good? I loved the first two. Played the third but it was just ok.

Quote of the day:
"Macht ist Pflicht - Freiheit ist Verantwortlichkeit." (Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach)
(Power is a duty - freedom is responsibility.)
Then again, she probably had never heard of levelling up and only had to wear a corset, not a face mask.
Yesterday I spent most of the day in close proximity to my only fan*, playing vidja gamez, namely ACNH and Skyward Sword.
In the evening I joined the weekly 4-hour game stream of TITS SC.** It is very good.
*To judge by the existence of the onlyfans website, I'm probably not alone in this.
**Trails in the Sky, Second Chapter. One of my comments got censored, presumably because it contained that abbreviation.

What would you do if you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom? I dreamt my car had been stolen and I couldn't report it t the police as I couldn't find a phone a couple of nights ago. I'd give up that dream for freedom.

The heat doesn't bother until I've had a meal, then I'm a sweaty angry lump.
Also, back on Warzone now. I played a game and landed and killed someone then died to someone else. I then won my Gulag and failed to realise the parachute was not auto open and so I splatted onto the floor and died. An action packed 5 minutes.

Skyward Sword - I had totally forgotten about this little detail: the drawing of Link's face pinned to Groose's punching bag.

Hiya! Happy Freedom Day Everyone! How are you all celebrating?
I celebrated by taking a lateral flow test, wearing a mask in the Co-op, and having a look at the latest cases, hospitalisation and deaths, so I can do update our Covid risk assessment.

I've taken personal responsibility and removed the facemask from my avatar.
This might not be the right move, as the Worry Tent is definitely a crowded space.
I'll put it back on if required by a competent authority (Admin? Moderator 1? prudy01? not Shenguin) or out of common courtesy if someone else is uncomfortable if my avatar didn't wear a mask.

Morning, free spirits!
Free spirits? It’s a bit early, but if you insist, mine’s a large one. Fnarrr. Orange twist on the side? Just the way I’m standing.
I have been out with a chainsaw this morning, removing a troublesome branch. I am now hot and sweaty, with a dusting of sawdust and wood chips. Not even the dog wants to get near me. On the plus side I have cold beer in the fridge and PM is at work.
No games.

I'm pretty fucking worried about how crowded the worry tent is, I really think I want to maintain adequate social distance. Also, we might spread Covid.

The humour I'm still finding good. Nico is still rather lovely with her French accent. Lots of speech but am enjoying.

tenthenemy Is Skyward Sword easier/better/less reading or more difficult than BOTW? My 6 year old loves playing BOTW but its too complex for him to really master it. You use the joycons for stabbing and shielding I think in Skysword? That sounds fun.

Hiya! Happy Freedom Day Everyone! How are you all celebrating? I celebrated by taking a lateral flow test, wearing a mask in the Co-op, and having a look at the latest cases, hospitalisation and deaths, so I can do update our Covid risk assessment. Heres my own report that I just knocked up based on no research other than what I've seen/read in the news. You can copy if you like for your report. Or, more likely, tell me where I done fucked up and hurl abuse. Conclusion : Testing a million (is this right? seems unachievable) people a day, including school children = cases very high Hospitalisation/deaths = very low due to vaccine success Therefore; No vaccine and old/poorly = very high risk No vaccine and 18 - 60 = medium low risk Vaccine and old/poorly = low risk Vaccine and under 60 = very low risk Vaccine or no vaccine and a schoolchild = zero/miniscule risk Cases = always high due to volume of tests, but this proves vaccine success, and doesn't necessitate stopping FREEDOM DAY™. Where poorly = underlying health problems The end Tuffers Tldr, stick to the day job Tuffers

Tuffers
its the % testing positive that matters. Everyone with symptoms has been able to test for a while. The percentage s testing positive re rising significantly. Even with a 95% effective jab that means 5% of the vaccinated are able to get infected and/or ill. Probably, but not necessarily less seriously than otherwise. A lot of it depends on the viral load you are exposed to. The higher the load the more likely you are to get ill and the more serious it will be. It is why healthy young doctors die from covid. Average load exposure is difficult to measure and is not a statistic that is released even where it is collected. Also the % being told to isolate as they have come in to contact with the infected.
The deaths are (almost) following infections in a straight line. Just 2-4 weeks later At the moment there are approximately 50 deaths a day. The infections on 1 July were 27,000. Approximately half of what we currently have. So it is likely (not guaranteed) that we have already committed to 100 deaths a day in 2-3 weeks.
If there is an explosion in infections to 100-150,000 cases a day we can expect to end up with 20-300 deaths a day. It might well be more.
The other problem is pinging. 1.5m were pinged and off last week This includes slackers (me) and genuine hard workers who are necessary for the economy. If we end up with 3 times as many told to self isolate (and it could be more). That could be 5 million in August. It's not limited to one exposure either you can be isolated regularly. The restaurant next door is shut at the moment as all the staff have had to isolate. That isn't doing businesses any good. It's very difficult to plan if large numbers of staff are off. Not so bad for an office but if you need them on site it's a problem. I've heard of people being pinged several times. It's why people are refusing to install the app or deleting it.

How many more people need to have vaccines before we can go back to normal again?
And I mean normal normal, not the new normal.

I sort of feel ok with going back to normal, mainly because of the vaccinations but also because the country's debt is now apparently at about 100 percent of its GDP, which doesn't sound like a good thing. It's apparently about two-and a half times higher than it was the year of the global financial crisis (not sure if this is in real or relative terms).
The economy's going to be devastated, surely? Homes re-possessed, businesses failing, people out of work.
I don't know ...
Will full capacity in bars and restaurants stave it off?
Probably not ...
