Tired, very tired. Spending today faking a sponsor form.
Not the usual going round the doors pretending to collect for charity but the exact opposite by spending MY money on it and adding names. Was supposed to print off the child's sponsor form and hawk it round work. Forgot. Some other prick put their offsprings in the work kitchen yesterday. He's 17 ffs. Another person had their daughters who is a teacher and therefore a grown up. Ask your own friends. Lovely.

Morning all,
Just seen the delicious Skyrimchat from yesterday. The iron dagger bug was patched up, it's the value of what you make. Keep any 'flawless' jewels for possible side quests as various nerds have done the maths already. Making gold rings is the most efficient way to level up.
Alchemy - never got into it though it's pretty important to have a 'cure disease' potion on you at all times. It's always worth checking to see if you have a disease as sometimes you can miss the prompt. If you go to the 'magic' side menu (where you select shout etc) you can see 'active effects' which will detail anything you have beneficial or other. Diseases are in red. Especially worth checking if you've encountered vamps as this disease has permanent effects if you don't treat it early on.

I finished Rime a couple of days ago. I was in the right mood for it, and enjoyed it. A bit heavy on the symbolism, but some scenes of genuine pathos. I might go for the platinum.
Me? No mate, I've just got something in my eye. It'll be fine in a moment.

Start with Ed Sheehan, £5 for example. When questioned give it “Oh good lord, no, of course not don’t be silly, different chap” but then leave it super ambiguous by slipping in, say, Ella O’’Connor and Dave Byrne further down the list. Fuck with people.

You've missed a trick by not opening it up to chatterboxers with a just giving page. I'm sure most of us would chip in a few quid to attach an insult to a donation.

I've recently finished Annihilation. The book obviously. I will see the film once everyone has forgotten about it.
It is pretty good. Recommended. A nice bit of creepy sci-fi. It reminded me of Roadside Picnic. I'd be quite surprised if Jeff hasn't read that.

No nazi incest but still a bit odd though. I’m not sure if I can be arsed reading the remainder of the Southern Reach books. Annihilation was OK, but it just made we want to go and re read Ballard’s stuff again.

I have not read the Vorrh. No. I did buy it after some idiot recommended it on the G. I have carefully (the pile is potentially unstable) placed it on the books to be read pile. It is not at the top. Near the top, but not at it.

I really liked Annihilation. Shame the second book in the series was so poor by comparison. Didn't bother with the third. I thought The Vorrh was ok. An interesting idea but I was sort of relieved when I finished it.
Started reading The Blade Itself recently after getting it for Christmas. It's not really floating my boat to be honest.
Nothing else to say, just wanted to feel involved...

I thought Annihilation had a good feel but petered out at the end. More like an overlong short story than a novel. Will watch the film but probably not read the sequels.
Games question. When I play Fortnite squad mode, sometimes I can hear people coughing / talking in Spanish through my telly. They are not talking to me, it's just whatever their mic is picking up. I have neither mic or cans as I don't usually play online since none of my actual friends are simpleminded enough to play video games, unbelievably. So why am I hearing random ambient sounds and can the voices be silenced?

So why am I hearing random ambient sounds and can the voices be silenced? Aural hallucinations are surprisingly common. They can be a sign of an underlying mental health problem, such as psychosis. If they're only occasional, and aren't causing you problems or telling you to act out inappropriate behaviours, then it's probably not too much to worry about, but worth seeing your GP anyway. If they become problematic (frightening, violent, changing your behaviour) or are accompanied by other symptoms (depression, manic episodes, impulsive or violent behaviour, inappropriate sexual desires or behaviour, self-harming) then you should definitely seek medical attention quickly. Occasionally aural hallucinations may be as a result of physical damage (stroke, head injury, etc) so if you have any other symptoms associated with a stroke (weakness to the facial or arm muscles, dizziness, etc) then you should dial 999 immediately. Trying to blame your aural hallucinations on an external source, in this case games, is common behaviour, but is itself delusional which itself may also be indicative of an underlying mental health problem. It's really positive that you've chosen to make a cry for help on this forum. Admiting you're mental is the first step on the road to full institutionalisation. I am touched by your bravery. #prayforrolling

Cobblers
That is a beautiful illustration of what I have to face. My pile is more than one book wide as it simply wasn't stable. It is a health and safety nightmare I think I have actually reduced the number of unread books this year. Though I am in positive figures for this week. An unwise visit to Waterstones (I thought I was cured and could go there safely just to look), plus an Amazon delivery didn't help.

I recently bought a new bookcase for the to read pile. Then started a new pile, as it felt wrong not to have one.

You should be able to disable party chat in the party settings. Or set up up a private party where you are the only one.
If the voices are internal it won't work.

I’ve still got a terrifyingly dry and dense hardback copy of “the making the middle sea” by Cyprian Broodbank* slap bang in the middle of my heap. Highly reccomended, gives it an immense structural stability and has probably compressed the lower layers by a good 15%.
*Real name. Disney Professor of Archeology, director of McDonald Institute of Research. Amazingly these are also real things.

Or set up up a private party where you are the only one. Thank you for the practical advice, and for describing my social life so epigrammatically.

Fake names will just prove to Mrs Crank I didn't do it as advertised. I'll be using real folks names from my workplace. They're all quite tight with sponsor forms apparently.
Currently resetting/restoring kids iPads in work. Despite (because of?) Signs telling them they'll never guess the pin they try, and try. I'd love an email with a photo when the 10th attempt happens that locks the device.

Cobblers, click on the picture you want to add, or right click and choose open in new tab. You'll (usually) get just the picture at a different web address. Copy that address into the pictures function thingy in the create post page of this site (in desktop mode, not mobile). That will embed the picture in your post.
Unless you just couldn't be arsed, but I assume you're incompetent as well.
