To Disappear into the woodwork is an old phrase. But beware. Toolio built a log store and disappeared. Lazy had a new wooden gate and disappeared. Scuba has built a wooden table and not been seen since. A pattern is emerging.

Joe Root's batting has been exceptional, but as I have said before, he is a piss poor captain. Here's his quote after the match
"Tactically I got a few things wrong, and a lot falls on my shoulders," Root told BBC Test Match Special.
"The game could have looked very different if I had managed things slightly different, and I will learn from that experience."
The italics are mine. The first thing is that he isn't strong-minded enough - his inability to refuse Broad's requests for reviews being one obvious symptom. He can't see the bigger picture - he can't step out of the team collectivism and assess the situation. Yesterday morning's insane field settings are another symptom. He should've told his bowlers to bowl top of off stump and set the field accordingly. The consensus culture (and you can fuck off right now Silverwood) has reinforced Root's worst faults and created a consensus captain; which stops him being the leader England needs. Christ, I have more captain like qualifies than him. (I was Captain of Cricket at school.)
But the second and most telling shortcoming is that he DOESN'T fucking learn the from experience... his captaincy, after nearly 5 years is actually getting worse. He's not far short of 31, but he doesn't look it or act like it. Vaughan was and is a cunt, but he at least was making his own decisions and actually led his team.
Is it tradition that when a player becomes captain everything else just goes to pot? A little ME:A pottering, a quick ikea trip where we only bought what we had on the list and an early night.

Hiding here perhaps ...
I imagined boxers 'private' places to be more underground with dim lights, war dollies, leather and chainmail.

I can do and certainly adds an extra level of distraction to their game. Ideally we need a strong individual who isn't afraid of Anderson and Broad and who we don't rely on getting all the runs. Mid-order batsman type.
There isn't enough coffee in the world to motivate me to do productive work today after 2 weeks off. To top it off, i'm expected to start commuting back to the office 2 days a week now, so it's 5.30 starts and no cheeky Malbec in a coffee cup during zoom calls. Bollocks.
Games? Finally got a couple of hours flying in MSFS2020 yesterday..... pootled around the Iceland volcano that I've been watching on youtube for the last few months. Watching the livestreams has reassured me that volcanologists are bigger nerds than gamers. The recent disputes over whether a recent new lava flow is a vent, a new vent, a parasitic vent, or just a hole, has led to several folk flouncing or getting banned by the mods this week. It's like Wench-gate all over again. 4*s
No games last night. Had to upload some crochet videos to Facebook for work as I said I'd done it when waltzing out the door. See folk who tag their pals under posts so it's just a big list of folks names. First against the wall. FUCKING SHARE IT YA CUNT is what I can't type on the work pages.
Anyway. I'm off to make a coffee.
Watched the last two episodes of The years that changed Modern Scotland on iPlayer.
Apparently I've needed a hearing aid longer than I realised.
Twerking from home chat: The PM has been informed they're going to 50% in the office from late September as a permanent move to flexible working. Well, permanent as such that it will continue until they're all dead from covid anyway. That was as well received as you might imagine. I'm continuing to be an underpants only wearing, non-showering, socially inept, afternoon nap taking, home twerker, yay!
