Our Xmas lunch has been replaced by ordering Pizza and stuff and sitting about the (closed) library.
I've not been on the official night out in several years. There used to be an unofficial one for the folks who lived in Glasgow who (apart from me natch) were all decent.

It's no use high pitched squealing if people didn't like your joke. In any case laughing gas is Nitrous Oxide.

Guten Morgen mein Schatzies!
I think there's a Christmas Party, but I don't know when. I will get drunk and embarrass other people. There's definitely a secret Santa, which is fucking annoying bollocks.

Chumbles I'm still miffed that no-one commented on my wine Advent Calendar, everyone started talking about people being locked up for being mean to Amipal or something like that.

I don't need no calendar to tell me to open a bottle of wine every morning.
Morning!
Today I am doing BDT all wrong and have just had tomorrows hangover cure a day early.
2 fried eggs, crispy bacon, hot buttered muffins and strong mug of tea.
Not sure whether i'm ready to take on the world, or have a nice nap and sleep it all off.

Ultrawide chat!
Yesterday I employed a tame colleague to test how a work teams call might look if I shared my mahoosive desktop to a standard office monitor.
It turns out that I have a picture-in-picture function that means I can also run my gaming PC in it's own independent window, while sharing my whole screen to my work lot, and the extra window is completely invisible! I can even toggle between them, or minimise work altogether, and they still are none the wiser. Absolute game-changer!
I am now looking forward to the regular 2-hour managers all-hands presentations, knowing I can reduce him to the size of a postage stamp, while I hoon around the backroads of Mexico.

I will of course have to be careful not to un-mute myself, lest I interject with something along the lines of "Gerrout the fuckin way ye scrawny Japanese bastard" or similar, while battling some random MX-5 or Skyline.....

I declined the annual work Christmas party, partly because having had a brush with the pox I don't really want to be unmasked in a room full of people for a few hours, but also because it won't handle a candle to Christmas with Wide Andy on the wine (and having had his 'weetabix') at the old job. Although having said that, last office party with Wide Andy I hung around the snacks and then left early, because I couldn't face a fully activated Beorrca'd up Wide Andy holding court whilst also going balls out of the bath on the wine. You don't know what you've got til its gone.

Sheep2I get your point about discless, ps+ backlog etc. I won't ever want a 4k Blu-ray. I may want to be able to play DVD's though. I know, how quaint. I don't buy games at release very often, so by the time I do they're often a good tenner at least cheaper on disc. Will have to think. Ottm. Just installed Win11 on a work laptop. All very osX/Gnome isn't it.

Crank
There are regular PSN sales if you wait. Combine that with ShopTo psn vouchers and you've got 12% off the sale price. Most games are £20-30 within a few months online. At least in sales. They put them back up regularly to make the deals look better.
So Cyberpunk is £20 on PSN but using ShopTo it's £17.60 which is cheaper than CEX or game.
The issue is if you resell games. You can't do that with Digital.
When you add in the PS4 collection which is free Digital only is not a bad offering.
I'm still glad I have the disc edition, but I don't use discs much.

Hi {Redacted},
Thanks for your email. I'm going to run this by the nerds that frequent the forum I'm a member of and see what they think. Don't hold your breath,
Regards, Crank.
Why yes, I am answering the library emails today as someone is on annual leave.

Using discs with the PS5 does quickly become a massive pain once you are used to going all digital. The disc is entirely moribund in this scenario, often accompanied by a patch download the same size as the game copied from the disc. But you have to swap discs to change games, which takes away some of the immediacy of the fast loading on the PS5.
On the other hand, it seems physical is going the way of the ostrich and PS5 disc games are regularly on sale cheap as chips on simplygames and the like, a few months after release, so it is handy to pick up the odd game you will only play sporadically and just leave that disc in the drive. Generally though its enough of a back ache swapping discs that I prefer to pay a slightly premium to get things digitally these days.
For digital only the prices are still ridiculous at launch but you can get it down quite a bit using the discounted PSN credit from shopto. So basically maybe get a Digital one or a disk one depending on whether you feel like it or not.

You’ll also have to ensure your emotionless mask doesn’t slip, otherwise they’ll wonder what on Earth is going on as you gurn away.

There's not even any decent (new) PS5 games. I bought Deathloop but haven't really played it. Apart from that there is Returnal which is supposed to be good, but I wasn't convinced is £60-70 of good so it will have to wait. Mostly games are still Cross generation.
Demon's Sous is ace if you lie that sort of game. Godfall is the other PS5 game I have. It is not ace. Pretty, but rubbish. Everything else is available on PS4 still or is a PS4 game.
Mass Effect is superb though on PS5. Runs smooth and looks ace.
PSN on PS5 is appalling. They have made it different from the PS4 version. But different very much means worse. It s more difficult to find games and demos.

I just googled Crank's author, and it's a no from me, as he has a goatee and ponytail.
I might email him with a link to this post, to learn him not to look like that.

4K blueray is the best way to watch films. Streaming is very hit and miss in quality and in general Amazon Prime are terrible and Netflix kind of OK for 4k.
