By not playing on hard mode you are only cheating yourselves of a *.
And an incredible sense of accomplishment when you get the word in the same number of tries as someone not playing on hard.
It also provides a strong excuse if you are beaten. Yes, but you were playing on easy. That there is almost no difference between the modes for most words is utterly irrelevant.

People who insist that the only way to play a game is on "HARD MODE" are cunts. No shade thrown at anyone here intended. What about people who play on hard mode without switching on hard mode? I'm asking for Destry. In other news, this discussion has led me to having second thoughts on my Wordle light theme. I might give the dark theme a try. Hmmm.

Too many chores; I am not temperamentally* suited to being Mrs Mop *Aptly made up of temper and mentalI made some moves last night in Neptune's Pride which were, frankly, terrible - at the game's slow pace, I'm going to have to watch the bulk of my carefully amassed fleet continue to move in the wrong direction and back again until Thursday whilst one of my enemies will be joyfully snacking on my luscious border stars... Worse still, he's a friend and he's already having it large with the 🤣 emojis. Is that person wearing a Team Sheep T-shirt? Figures.

Claims to be a pub quiz but I had to provide my own drinks.
No stars.

The problem with the Arsenal is that they always try to walk it in. Plus that Thierry ennui thing.
