No barfing and no superb owl last night for me. Instead I stayed up far too late because the Trails in the Sky SC Sunday stream went on for a whopping six hours. And although we finished the chapter we still need to go back to the last area because we walked into the boss fight before we had explored everything. Hate it when that happens.
We started the game with the aim to try out Zin's freshly acquired Thunder God Kick attack. Turns out that it's a glorified* butt stomp. During the stream we amused ourselves in the chat by posting Valentine's poems about the game and its characters. Those were all very good, although nothing will ever top the "Ellipsis of Love" that was performed at last year's Extra Life charity event. Yes, I know, you probably need to be familiar with the game to find this funny. I'm posting it anyway. Happy Valentine's Day.
*I'm avoiding the word "flashy", which in connection with the word "butt" could give the wrong impression. Although a different character in the game is known as "the silver streaker", and we all know why...

Is anyone mildly jealous of the "Trails in the Sky SC" crew?
No?
Just me then.

Went to Lidles for some of their excellent small toms and came out with a coffee grinder. I'm not convinced I can tell the difference between ready ground and fresh ground. But the whirring sound when grinding is very satisfying.

I use an electric grinder. The difference between fresh ground and pre bought ground...
Smell, more crema, fresher taste. Though the last one could be all in my head.

Fresh ground tastes a lot smugger. An ineffable unami like taste that has to be experienced rather than described. For reference I do not own a coffee grinder.

I used instant for a long time, then I switched to coffee beans and didn't look back. I use an electric grinder and blend my different brands before I grind, I sometimes add pre ground coffee in with it to soften the flavour such as Carte Noire ready ground added to Crazy cat beans. all bean based coffee is the same as pre ground it's just a case of whether you can be bothered or have the time to grind the beans, still a lot better than instant though. edit: The strength number when blending matters such as 300 grams of a number three and add a 100 grams of a number four to soften.

If you're grinding 400g of coffee a day you need an intervention. If we can get you off the ceiling.

I don't think grinding fresh makes that much difference. It does make the kitchen smell of freshly ground coffee, though, which is nice.

Woah! With all this grinding Kane must have maxed out his level some time ago. This explains a lot.

For proper coffee you need a pet civet; feed it the beans then follow it around and decant the partially digested from the poop that falls from t'other end. Wash, gently roast and that's Kopi luwak... You could try with a cat, but I suspect that neither the cat nor the coffee will be improved.

Maybe fresh grinding does make a difference? I don't know. We have a coffee shop quite close to us which will grind the beans for you. So I suppose the beans are semi-freshly ground by the time you get them / the bag home.

Typical metropolitan elite with their coffee shops and burrito houses.
Good luck getting that halfway up a hill in the Highlands. BYOB. Bring your own burrito.

Just watched a TV programme and someone took pain killers. From a plastic pot with loose tablets in. Always the same on TV or films. When was the last time you had medication in this form ? Everything has been blister packed for the last twenty years. Guess it doesn't look macho to have the hero struggling with blister packs rather than just necking them straight from bottle.

Afternoon all. TVblog: Community, Meow Meow Beans. I just love the way the slightest tweak to the social order results in complete upheaval on the campus. Filmblog: Master & Commander. Long we've tossed on the rolling main, now we're safe ashore, Jack. Don't forget yer old shipmate, faldee raldee raldee raldee rye-eye-doe!Dinnerblog: the Co-op chilli again. OTTM: I imbibed too much red wine and ate too much sliced chorizo while watching the film last night. I had quite the headache this morning. There's only one scene in Master & Commander that's from the novel (and Audiobook - do NOT get the abridged version.) " The episode in which Aubrey deceives the enemy by means of a raft bearing lanterns is taken from Master and Commander, while the episode in which Maturin directs surgery on himself, while gritting his teeth in pain, to remove a bullet is taken from HMS Surprise.[16] The stern chase around Cape Horn is taken from the novel Desolation Island, although Acheron replaced the Dutch 74-gun warship Waakzaamheid, Surprise replaced Leopard, and in the book it is Aubrey who is being pursued around the Cape of Good Hope." The meat of the film is actually based on The Far Side of the World. Apparently there are plans for a prequel - " 20th Century is looking to head back to the high seas as sources tell Deadline the studio is developing a new Master and Commander pic ......it is likely they would have new talent playing Aubrey and Maturin as well."So I guess this will be Master & Commander: Master & Commander...

Everything has been blister packed for the last twenty years. Guess it doesn't look macho to have the hero struggling with blister packs rather than just necking them straight from bottle. I have tablets that sometimes come in either a blister pack, a bottle or a little plastic pot, depending on how the pharmacist felt on the day. The childproof bottle top is usually not too bad, but removing the plastic seal from the pots by pulling at one end is basically impossible. There's a great risk of self-inflicted injuries as the end either breaks off or won't budge and you will have to employ sharp implements to cut the lid free. By the time you manage to open the thing you are in dire need of the content because your blood pressure is through the roof. 4 stars.
