I've found a new website: 1945It seems designed specifically for Sinister War Hermits. Yeah… don’t go there. It isn’t the most objective viewpoint. It seems a bit 'America-centric'. A bit war-centric. But it's a viewpoint. Another viewpoint in the panoply of viewpoints.

I am a nut, err, a map nut; I love atlases, maps of all sorts and it came in very handy when drawing D&D maps. I follow this guy's work: Dyson's Dodecahedron, although nowadays not so much as time is at a premium.

hello
I'm not sure what we'll have for dinner. We ate all the remaining vegetables in the fridge yesterday, except for a bushel of celery,
Right now I'm drinking tea from a tea machine of the future. Well it accepts contactless card payments. It still seems pretty futuristic to me. The 21st century is finally beginning to deliver on its promises.

Perhaps I ought to get myself put through treatment before doing quordle. Weirdly, the combination of pain and morphine means that my atavistic backbrain solved this.
Same thing used to happen solving crosswords 75-80% very quickly with my vaunted forebrain, then 15-20% with a lot of straining... leaving 1 or 2 intractable bastards (especially with Araucaria, back in the day) to brew in the stygian depths of my unconscious mind.

Tuffers the youngests birthday today. Fun* activities planned with her and some pals for tomorrow.
Tuffers: Would you like to go out for something to eat for tonight?
TTY: Can we order an Indian takeaway?
BOOM! YEAH!
Having a youngling has finally paid off. Wait, oh.

That's not the ball of the century. The animated gif isn't, but Chumbles provided a link to the BBC which shows the same clip as the one you posted.

First ball in the Ashes. Against one of the best players of spin. Just toss it up, give it plenty of air. It wasn't the skill, it was the chutzpah.
Any other bowler would just have been grateful not to get whacked first ball. See yourself in to the session, get the flight of the ball and the pitch. Not Shane.
It was a proper what the fuck did that boy just do moment.
One minute I was idly revising for my first year exams with the cricket on. The next one hundered and ten percent watching the cricket.

It's the Colombians I feel sorry for. El Diego and Shane in quick succession is a big blow to their business model.

GT7 Had to stop playing. Hands had formed claw grip on controller It's alright. Racing ace, game looks the dog bollocks. Everything else is bollocks. The characters are painful. I don't want a social game. I want to practice fast corners until my hands lock up.
Four stars. Recommended

I'm not all here, so I am not surprised that I got it wrong. I've been unconscious between then and now (post treatment hot cross bun - blood sugar to gut.. eyes close and gone). Warne was a showman and one page of his book of tricks was the same as a magician's: misdirection. He DID get a lot of rip on the ball, but in my view his greatest skill was getting into the mind of the batsman. IMHO Swann was technically as good, but didn't have the same presence. I only saw Jim Laker* at the end of his career, by which time his spinning finger was a mass of scar tissue and barely healed wounds, but both he and my childhood hero Freddie Titmus were quiet bowlers who didn't have that extra dimension... The Cat is unique, of course! Notice the absence of leggers... The fact is that English selectors and captains rarely understood them and just didn't want the risk and subsequent criticism if they didn't come off. An example is Tich Freeman, was an English first-class cricketer. A leg spin bowler for Kent County Cricket Club and England, he is the only man to take 300 wickets in an English season, but he only played for England in 12 tests. As soon as a leggie gets carted, so he is gone. Bah! Freeman was only 5' 2" ! "Leg-spin is by far the hardest thing to do in cricket," says former England bowler Graeme Swann. "The skill level is above and beyond anything else. It is just too hard to be consistent."*Another Yorkshire player that got away...
