Who was that guy who used to play Dip - had no idea of the rules*, and used to forget what he was doing? Basically if he was playing whoever started adjacent to him would just take over his territory
*yes, I am aware that also applied to me

Here I Stand looks terrific. Proper Waugh hermit business. If you have a group of 6 people willing to play and a spare weekend or so its phenomenal. There is a Henry VIII wives table to roll on.

One Christmas, during a family game of Risk, my Dad threw the dice across the room.amd bellowed at my Sister to stop attacking him. Little did he know that this was exactly her mission. We never played Risk again after that. It was a Holly jolly Christmas that year. Are you Lazybones? If not you could probably save money by doing joint family therapy sessions. I wish! In other news I think someone has created a fake Crispycrumb account on Facebook because they are messaging me and it is definitely not him.

Separately from the above, I am totally over lazybones stabbing me in the back so he could take Russia, even though it was only 4 years ago. Did I do that? Oh Lord ... In my mind I have never stabbed anyone in the back in Diplomacy. Maybe I am a monster after all. We are all monsters. It's good to own it. You sent me the longest in-game message I ever saw to apologise and explain your thinking. It was like the transcript of Yalta, or perhaps one of Vlad's less concise treatises.

The 3 in the upper left doesn't reflect how long it took me to arrive at the right conclusion.

The top left word is spelt incorrectly. Makes it unnecessarily tricky.

I rather took my time to appreciate how it was spelt. And still got it in four.

Morning. I have been running around EFT with a shotgun, choke and some slugs and killing people. Great fun. I also handled kid 1's 5th birthday party without PM with animal petting, sit down meal, venue prep with a Granny and Aunty drafted in to help. Went OK, but exhausting. The highlight was granny's game of musical chairs at the very end at which point when kids lost a chair they picked up their party bags and left. Well it turns out kids these days don't play games where they lose and hence weren't used to it, therefore most party bags I handed out were to crying children. We are raising a generation of sore losers. My younger granddaughter refuses to take part in any game she could possibly lose. She doesn't even want to play Mario because of the risk of failure. I admit that my encouragement to "git gud, scrub" was maybe misdirected.

Never, ever, include my sister in a game of Trivial Pursuit. Unless you've got a couple of days to spare.

I cannot play Dip any longer, it takes up too much of my time. I will also never be able to get a win because I will always try to be loyal to my allies and will never break a truce. Though I may have stabbed some people (Shenguin) lightly in the back on occasion.
Favourite moment in Dip was leading the Shenguin-Faceless coalition against Rolling and Bloggie, but ye gods it was exhausting.
Least favourite moment was being stabbed in the back by Chumbles because he mistook me for Shenguin. I haven't been back since.

Faceless jnr had his first experience of gamer rage at the weekend. He couldn't beat a boss on some shitty tablet game he was playing, resulting in a proper tantrum. Crying, shouting etc. I had to sit him down and give him 'the talk'. Explaining that the life of a gamer would be filled with such moments, and that it's something he would have to learn to get used to. I told him about soulsborne bosses, shitty game mechanics, games without autosave, and explained that I still get gamer rage some times, but that I am better at repressing it.
The next morning he got up, gave the game another go, and "smashed that guys penis off until he was dead"
It was a very proud moment for both of us

Morning, Elden Ring chat. Have just been mooching around, lost 6000 runes stupidly yesterday and had to stop. Went into a room with bloodstains all over the floor, then the door closed behind me and a knight came out of nowhere and almost took me out. Then I completely surprised myself and turned it all around with one well timed block, totally murdered him to death. Then got taken out by some low guy throwing a pot at me. Potato waffles and mushroom cup o soup for work breakfast today, and for lunch some pasties I made from an ottolenghi recipe. took me 2 and a half hours, which is about 1 and a half hours too much. But I did get 13 pasties instead of 8 so I was probably doing something right/wrong.

Surely one of the main purposes of games is to socialize children so that they get used to other people winning? Unless you are Magnus Carlsen there will always be someone better than you at pretty much everything.
Any game that has more than two players you are likely to lose more than you win.
I have no objection to team games. Working together to lose is an important skill. Collaborative games with no losers though are awful.

Hello all. How are tricks? How are your faces?
TVblog: the usual mix of Seinfeld and Schitts Creek.
Amigablog: Gunship 2000. I got absolutely battered attacking the primary objective. Limping back to base, I managed to crash into a hill. KIA. No restarts on this. So had to set up a new pilot. We go again.
