After commenting on the Will Smith thing all morning, I decided to finally watch it. Had not realised he actually walked up onto the stage to slap him. Why can't we all just get along?

Maybe Vlad just needed to slap someone? Release some pent up frustrations. A slap across Johnson's chops and all this trouble could have been averted.
It's worth following up. See if he's prepared to slap Johnson anyway.

Slapchat. Very poor on both sides, seen alot of "it was scripted" which is a common approach now and somewhat borne from the aproach that everything is a conspiracy and/or staged. Conspiracy theories, often wrong, used to be about the end result or outcome. E.g. JFK was assassinated by FBI/Mafia etc for a reason and it was the reason which drove the event. Now the approach is more often reversed (e.g. the Will Smith slap was all staged because?  ). If so then why? Who benefitted or gained? And if your answer is 'publicity', well Spacey had a fair amount of that a few years back. It's not always a good thing. |

It was weird that Smith went for the slap though, I mean most guys would swing a punch or slam a headbutt. I think Smith originally intended something more brutal but changed his mind at the end and hence the slap. It would have been amazing if he straight up knocked Rock out.
Not that I'm condoning violence obviously.

In related news, had fish for dinner. Slap chat: yesterday I was reading about whether President Zelensky would be addressing the Oscar ceremony. I bet he realises now that he had a close shave as he almost got sucked into a terrible conflict. What I expect the next Academy Awards ceremony to look like, trying to top this year's:  I had the good fortune of having very little exposure to Chris Rock. I had heard his name before, nothing else. Therefore the first thing I knew about the whole thing was actually watching the clip without knowing it was him. So I thought that the 'jokes' were pretty bad and that the one about Jada Pinkett Smith was beyond the pale. However, I also deeply disliked Will Smith's "I demand satisfaction for the slight against my family" attitude. I totally agree with Sheep that it would have been far more impactful if the Smiths had simply walked out. Then the Academy would have had the embarrassment of having to put Will Smith's Oscar in the post. Btw, I was amused to see that for whatever reason I had a Murdoch Sky News Australia recommendation in my YouTube feed with the title "Academy Awards show ruined by wokeness". I'm actually tempted to watch it to find out which was the woke bit that ruined the whole thing.
