Hello. This house has a tasimmo machine. First time I've ever had/used. They're shite. Environmental reasons aside, avoid. The Tassimo machine isn't as good as brewing your own from cat shat beans... but if you're having a mug of coffee every couple of hours it beats instant! But the pods come with different coffee types and quantities - some I hate and some I like.

Ahm oot of confectionery unfortunately. Need to see the big man. But if I'd known you were going over you could have broken in and smashed the TV and I could replace it. My next hope is baby when he's up for Guns n Roses and we're in England. Perfect alibi. What could possibly go wrong? "Yes... I'm the scene of crimes officer. Your burglar was wearing £200 shoes. Why he would break in and steal a TV worth less than that we don't know" Perfect crime

I stand with Crank. And Greta.
Why oh why can’t the boffins and egg-heads find a way to break down plastics once and for all?

Send plastic into space. That’s what I say.
Send it up on a helium balloon, then, once it’s on the edge of the atmosphere, incinerate it as fuel for a rocket to give it the last push. Keep the exhaust / noxious gas in a … tank. Maybe aim it all at the sun …

You mean my snap judgement on one experience is wrong? *Splutter* It's the chatterbox way! Ach, fair do's. Perhaps the costa cappuccino wasn't the best example.

I'm not keen on the pods or Nespesso or anything similar. The coffee can be fine, but it produces a lot of waste. I used to have a coffee make with a mesh for the grounds. You could just empty the grounds, wash and reuse it. It also had an espresso maker. It was my favourite coffee maker, but it now resides in the Elysian Fields.
I don't mind paper filters, but I'm not keen on 1 use plastic pods.
At least with instant coffee the environmental damage takes p l ace elsewhere.

My emergency* whisky has turned up. Two bottles of Laphroaig. This year's Cairdeas and the cask strength batch 13.
I have just (last night, not for lunch, you animals) started a Cairdeas. Not sure which year. Possibly from 2008. Yes I had been saving them. Until the pandemic started. I think this is the third I've opened. It is deeply rich and full flavoured. And is 55% abv. After an opening sip I dud add plenty of water as per the advice on the bottle.
I also had some Tobermory. It is a lot lighter, less overwhelming and much easier to drink.
* not an emergency.

Why oh why can’t the boffins and egg-heads find a way to break down plastics once and for all? Did they not have some microbe that did it?

If you set them on fire most plastics break down quickly.

We have a zero waste coffee shop here and I occasionally visit and re-fill my hemp sack with coffee beans from there.

I used to be exclusively the paper filter route for coffee, hopping over to France with GetOver for wine, coffee, cheese and spices at the massive Carrefour in Cité d'Europe*. See below... Grand Mère Ground Coffee 250g was my standard buy and 1/8th the cost; fort et robuste. But a combo of a massive cut in the quantity that I drank; being housebound (so my Euroflits completely halted) and a limit to how long that I can stand made it instant or tea until I caved in and got the Tassimo. * www.eurotunnel.com/uk/holiday-ideas/carrefour-cite-europe/

I have a Gaggia Classic coffee machine that has lasted almost 20 years. Grind beans so there is very little waste. I offset this by burying a plastic bag in the garden every week.

Espresso machine from a charity shop means no filters or pods. Aero press is the other gadget for quicker coffee with less noise. A little cyberpunk but a bit of a game funk, are most games delayed to next year again?
Maybe should cave to Elden ring, would it be worth it without ps5 etc?

We're at some country park place. It's run by volunteers. I'm amused by the guy with bored out ears, facial tats and a pierced septum waving at children from the kids train.
I had originally said pierced pereneum but as I typed I knew it wasn't correct. I mean he may well have, but it's not on show.

Ganes chat: more Xenoblade Chronicles, end of Chapter 9/beginning of 10 with lots of dramatic cutscenes, now back to making my own entertainment. About to enter a new area where I'm hoping to get those elusive ice cabbages that I need for Colony 6. Also finally fulfilled a quest whose marker had been visible and irking me for a long time because the area hadn't been accessible.
Later this afternoon (after 5 pm) I'm looking forward to watching my Elden Ring streamer start his first playthrough of Skyrim to celebrate his second anniversary on Twitch. I swear I will get back to Skyrim one day but I need to finish Xenoblade first. I've always found it interesting that those two games that are similar but different came out the same year.
Coffee chat: I'm also destroying Greta's future through legacy ownership of a Tassimo. I like the different flavours of coffee but getting rid of the pods is a bit of a faffabout that involves the company sending a Yodel along to pick up your recycling. I'm sure it's a consolation that I feel bad about it.
OTTM: the party people in the neighbouring garden are back with their excited children and doubtful musical taste. They don't bother me except when they put on music that makes my floors vibrate with the beat. Fortunately they seemed to have found less percussion heavy alternatives.

Ferrari 512 S Modulo - not exactly a car you would pop to the shop in... That’s if there were shops in the 1980s-based future. All food comes in pill form, delivered to your domicile via tubes. You’d use the Modulo to cruise down neon-lined highways, probably on the way to a crime scene. And you’d wear a long partially-transparent trench coat, and wrap-around mirrored sunglasses.

If you're a fan of Babylon 5, you might well enjoy this look back at the series - I found it very difficult to stop watching - this is where an hour and a half of my night time went. Thanks for this Chumbles, I’ll add it to the watchlist.
