Not the same I realise but maybe worth a shot EVE is a game that has a reputation for really nasty skullduggery; it's a game which some folk invest a lot of time and money in, setting up vast factions etc. and they get very very upset when someone wrecks it. One bloke infiltrated one of these and got control of that faction's resources and nicked these. Bear in mind that represented thousands of dollars in RL cash you won't be surprised to find out that that guy became the target of hackers, hitmen etc in real life. But more relevant is that, unlike Elite, it's like living a virtual life where, if you don't spend $ you will find yourself as a foot soldier... at least in Elite there are checks and balances that provide for freedom from this shite. Ask Oz* *I never thought I would say that! |

I've just ordered an spdif to RCA wee box thing from Jeff -£9. So the digital out on the TV can plug Into the Pioneer dvd/amp thing we have.
If it works - i.e. the spdif out - as I've never used it, then operation soundbar will begin the first phase of its operation.
I will of course need to do all this when the PM is otherwise occupied or the question "Why do you need a soundbar when that wee box plugs into the other wee box and gives sound" will rear it's ugly head.

Getting the sound out through an amp should work fine.
I had an optical out for ages. I'm not sure if modern TVs offer this as an option
I have been HDMI eARC for a while now.
When I hear TVs playing through their own speakers it's always noticeable that the sound is poor. Flat panel TVs just don't have the room to accommodate speakers to make good noise. We had a stereo TV in 1991 that had better sound than modern TVs. I don't even have very good speakers connected to the receiver. They are almost 20 years old and were cheap.

The amp has 5.1 and the speakers - but we've only got the front L/R plugged in the rest are in the attic. It's a decent enough sound playing cd's so I'm hopeful.
Also the fake reviews the company selling the DAC put up are good.
