Decided it was too hot to walk to the butchers so just back from the co-op in the car. Booze supplies restocked, got some chicken to make a curry and some burgers and sausages and corn on the cobs for a quick Barby tomorrow lunchtime.
Everything's coming up Tuffers.
Now for that hammock..

As one of the thread comments says, there's a mixture of the truth and "the truth" in this article, but one thing its gotten right is that there are a whole bunch of Soviet era drugs and research we've just ignored because of the cold war. Some of the researchers I've worked with have cottoned on to this and we've studied a fair slew of former soviet block pharmaceuticals over the last few years. Interesting story; there's a somewhat less mawkish account published in 2017, with more detail and less hyperbole, though it's still rather sentimental: health.ucsd.edu/news/releases/Pages/2017-04-25-novel-phage-therapy-saves-patient-with-multidrug-resistant-bacterial-infection.aspxEvery article I've read on phage therapy in the last 20 years has presented it as an amazing new idea that Western medicine has previously overlooked and we're only now properly looking into it. I don't think we let them have modern drugs/antibiotics so the Soviets had to go there own way.

Empty house again. Scrambled eggs and some slightly iffy smoked salmon out of the freezer for lunch, then off to coop for booze and back to the ranch for alternating half hours in the garden and inside playing AC odyssey in the garden

lazybones and BabyfarkmcGeezak , that's what you get from being sociable. Always a mistake. And you better think twice about dying from it. I have had enough of that already and I won't allow it. Hope you are both feeling better soon and that the microchips are going to do the trick.

Watching the cricket, the cameras cut to the crowd in the Hollies Stand. Tried to see if I could spot LOUDquietLOUD in the crowd before realising I don't actually know what he looks like (and doubt it's the GBBO picture from his old avatar)
Another G&T called for I think.

I don't think we let them have modern drugs/antibiotics so the Soviets had to go there own way. Which is also the reason why Cuba has developed a range of herbal remedies... probably the nastiest aspect of the USA's embargo

Oh, right, yeah, cos they're lies.

I saw LQL on Sky at a Warks game a few years back. Pissed. The camera focussed on him giving a big cheer for a six even tho Warks got thrashed. He's short, thin young-looking for his age. Goatee. He sent a photo of himself with Wee Cooper recently. There is a massive height gap between them over a foot. Wee looked like a granddad out with his grandson. He's lost the mohican* and gained a beard, looks like Fish these days. * At 6'8" plus mohican Wee was a remarkable sight a few years ago. A presence.

Why do you hate democracy and liberty? Oh, right, yeah, cos they're lies. Whatever the form of government, it only works while the people delegate their part of the polity to it - once a substantial proportion of the population no longer does so (vis the Republican / Evangelical cluster in the middle / south USA, so the system breaks down. Trump is actively subverting democracy there. Would Johnson do the same if he could - in my view he would if he thought he could... It's 32c in here

I am in bed. COVID is bad. Real bad. It doesn't feel quite so bad at the moment because I've taken some Nurofen Plus. I've been trying to layer codeine laced painkillers with CBD products and valerian tea - the aim being to sink into a swoon and become unaware of the physical roughness. It has not happened. I have started reading a book called Unofficial Britain, which is pretty good...

I have never read the Psychogeographic Review. I was looking for a review with gravitas, to sell the merits of this book. There weren't any / many - I think actually any. And I didn't want to link to Jeff.
I'm going to go back to reading this book ...

Cheese, onion & watercress sandwich for lunch. Choice of refreshments is between Estrella Damm à la Partygate and more of that pink cider. Bowl of strawberries and vanilla ice cream in the afternoon.
Ganes: over the last days some changes have taken place on my island of cross animals. First I let Whitney go in another attempt to get a sisterly neighbour. But after four or five rounds of island hopping I was presented with Cephalobot and didn't have to think too hard about saying yes. It means that I now octopossess all octopuses except for Marina, who's still octopi in the sky.
It also means that I now have three smug villagers on my islands, so I'm probably going to turf out one of them at some point. Not dreamboat Marshal, obviously. That only leaves... Gah! Zell!

Pref.Mam. just started 2 weeks holiday, celebrated by going on the piss, about to go and buy Fish and Chips and then have a nap afterwards.
Also noticed the advert being shown to me is about the Raphael exhibition.
Probably because I've been searching about the Courtauld.
Clever little Bots.

Stupid wordle.
Fajitas were top. Would be my last supper/death row meal I think. Possibly. Hmm.
It's quite warm & sunny in Glasgow. I'm glad as TRNSMT is on. There will be lots of former peely-wally, now skelpin-red casualties. Drinking all day in the sunshine.
The strokes are headlining the main stage and hope to see a bit of them on the telly later.
Lazy, glad you're coping. Bany is alive as he's liking posts. Hope it passes soon for both of you.
