Hi
I’m in Northern Ireland.
I’ve got a problem: A recurrent state of nausea.
I thought it was coming on because I’d got a new job and was maybe feeling anxious. Then that it might have been due to early mornings. Now I don’t know … I’ve been dry-heaving ever since I got up today. Well - I would say about 30 or 40 times. But it was an early morning so maybe that’s it.

Afternoon.
Managed to get back to sleep after taking the child breakfast and got up at 10am. Was groggy but probably better for it.
Last night I played a bit of GoT. Almost at the end of the first chapter thing as I've met the blacksmith. I bawsed up the mission though and got the hilarious* Glasgow based notification "You failed to return the peasants to the Forge"
I also restarted BOTW which I am enjoying - but should probably play docked. Or nick** a switch lite from work.
We watched the latest episode of Black Bird.
*YMMV **Borrow

There is a condition that some men / biologically male people have - Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome. They think they’re fully masculated then it turns out they have a uterus. And pregnancy is maybe possible? I’m pretty sure I don’t have this.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that's a normal reaction to Northern Ireland. Didn't you have this before?

I think a part of it is that I have to fly into London on Monday morning and go into work. Then I have to meet someone to hand over my old job. Then I have to meet someone else to introduce them to the person I’m handing my old job over to. Then I’ll have a one-to-one meeting with someone to find out how things are getting on. The next day I have two more of these meetings and possibly some awkward birthday stuff for people. And I have to deal with someone who I’m pretty sure my manager wants to move into ‘formal proceedings’ with / against. Then I have to meet my manager.
Ah man. It’s a lot of meeting with people, and being ‘on’. And it’s all quite new so I’m ‘up to high dough’, as people might say, here In Northern Ireland…

None of this is that serious. I’m not mentally worried about it. I just think my blood is saturated with cortisol.

"Up to high dough" is also used round these parts - but perhaps the Irish connection. lazybones, try and get some sleep. Get to bed before midnight. Cut down the booze a bit, avoid offers of weed. Head into Belfast, go out a walk, pop into the Falls Rd Sinn Fein office see what the lads have to say. My pal did that on his first visit to Belfast. Was told he would have been recorded three times - once by the security services, once by the IRA, once by UDA. Marvellous. That's got to help with worry.

Lazy
Try drinking less or drinking more. Whichever works.
Or go for a full on panic attack. Clear the air.

I’m in Donaghadee, which is quite a nice place, though the 12th of July flags are maybe a bit much. We might go for a walk round the lighthouse later.

Go a day trip into Bangor. Open a bottle of cider. You can do it all for under a pound.

Small town Northern Ireland is the best. My grandfather's family are from Crossmaglen. I've visited twice, both times after the GFA.
The first time they were still helicoptering in and out of the army base. There were also small round holes dug in to the gates of the police station. Some of them appeared to be fairly fresh.
The impression of being watched and listened to was enhanced by driving past the 'Golan Heights' on the way in to town. This was a big surveillance point with lots of listening dishes and obviously active. I got the impression some of the locals had noticed a few cars with English number plates turning up as well.
When my uncle's ashes were scattered in the churchyard in 2001 the funeral party was buzzed by a helicopter circling them about 30 feet up. The full works apparently. Masked up troops carrying large rifles. I wasn't there as i'd just started a new job and had been to the service in Coventry

Fuck you sheep and your glorious ability to get an Irish passport. I haven't got one. I have investigated it. It will cost about £500. Plus it will take a while. I need to become an Irish citizen first. I am definitely considering it when i need a new passport. I have got most of the paperwork togerher. I discovered my great grandfather was illiterate. He signed a census entry wirh an X.

If it's due to pregnancy, try ginger biscuits. If you are in Northern Ireland you've probably already come across some ginger nuts.
Or maybe you're allergic to people? In that case avoid the ginger nuts.

I am keen to be an EU citizen again because I hate Britain. I totally get that. So glad that I'm an EU citizen. My hate for Britain gets me out of bed every morning.
