Hello all. I’ve managed to get Lightroom working, so can confirm that 1556 photos were taken on Saturday. Still, that’s a thousand less than my mate took. I like to think it’s more quality rather than quantity, but I was shooting on a sensor a quarter of the size of his and manually-focussing to boot, so I kind of already know which way the wind is blowing here… Also, my body is still in a state after Saturday’s long drives, extended walks, and photography-based contortions. TVblog: Seinfeld, which included the episode “The Jimmy”, which is one of my all-time favourites. 1,540 thumb shots? At least i think that's a thumb. It's certainly got a keratinous growth on the end.

Just been out for Pref.Mams., extended*, birthday celebration and I had "Choucroute" in a French Bistro, talking to the owner I said this sounds German and he said it is from Alsace. I wonder if tenthenemy has any thoughts *Meal and then Bill Bailey at the ROH on Thursday, another meal on Saturday and now today. Recession, what recession? It's funny that to me it doesn't sound German at all, although half of it is. Excellent example of the typical Alsatian French-German mishmash. This is a really interesting one: the first part - chou - means "cabbage" in French, and because I know that I would have thought of it as a predominantly French word. But the second part, the " croute", is a frenchified spelling of the German Kraut (to be precise, in a dialectal form, " Krut"), also meaning "cabbage". So the name of the dish is cabbagecabbage. I'm aware that Alsatian Sauerkraut is a bit different from the German one (it's what Germans would call " Weinsauerkraut") but it doesn't change my feelings about it. I hate sauerkraut. But I will eat it in the interest of a good French-German relationship.

Well, it was easy once I just needed to rearrange letters because I had tried most of them.
Fuck the lower right. I'd lock it up and throw away the key.

*Vegetables, do not read on* It is possible to cook pig's liver so it's tasty and edible, but it's a ton of hard work. And bloody easy to fuck it up. The thing which I hate are the goddam tubes and I have to remove them. Very, very finely slicing the organ, was the only way I could get get what I wanted. I used to buy a whole one and, wearing Marigolds, press the thing down, finely slicing parallel with the palm of one hand with a very sharp knife, away from the grotesque mass of tubes in the core. After getting as many nice slices about 3-4" across, I'd reserve those slices between oiled paper, draining the blood into a bowl. Then, with a small sharp knife, I'd cut all the remaining flesh from the 'rubber bands' discarding the latter. The bits I'd add to a sofrito with a can of tinned tomatoes and red wine in a frying pan, reducing by half. I'd remove that from the frying pan into a warmed dish. Quickly coating the slices in a small amount of flour 1:3 with panko crumbs; I'd add butter to the frying pan flash frying the slices and serving these onto individual plates on a bed of fluffy white rice and bring them to the table. Served typically with a steamed green veg like broccoli and peas. And kill anyone who decided to fuck about doing something else while it went cold. Like omelettes, this MUST be eaten hot. Ye gods I am so very bloody hungry right now.

Continuation of the weekly Trails in the Sky the 3rd gaming stream last night. At one point the party was standing in front of a door that would only open if they knew 20 recipes. However, they only knew about seven. Since recipes can be learnt by eating a dish, the obvious solution to this was to scoff all their food supplies. I jokingly called Andrew a monster for doing this without having a particular character in the party who's permanently hungry. YouTube's humourless AI censored me into oblivion but had no problem with a love spam bot that showed up a while later. After that it censored my blue balls joke and, puzzlingly, a completely innocent reminder by me to check out a character's portrait in the menu.
How am I supposed to win the audience award for the funniest joke whilst suffering this kind of censorship?
OTTM: already last week my brother had suspected that he caught the 'rona from his Pref. Mam., now that's been confirmed. Fortunately his Pref. Mam. had tested positive before they were on their way to visit my mother who still hasn't been microchipped because her GP is an idiot, so could have been worse. Still, it's a mess.

I bloody love liver and onions*, but I could never be bothered to go through the palaver of cooking it, so I only get it if someone else has been doing the hard work.
And the best thing about ordering a plate of it in a restaurant is that nobody ever asks you to share. Heheheh.
*note the difference between this and loving it bloody

Not had liver in years other than in pate form. Do like it though.
Currently making carbonara. Or scrambled eggs pasta. we shall see in about 5 mins.
{Edit}or the third option of soup when you put in too much pasta water to loosen the sauce.

I bloody love liver and onions. I'm watching you Tent Hen.
1) Mushrooms. 2) Liver & Onions.
Now, if you you should confess a love for the smell of coconut shampoo, I will have to re-assess my evaluation of you.

I made cottage pie, served with tender stem brocolli and carrots on my last* afternoon of freedom. Back to making money for The Man tomorrow.
I too love liver, onions and mash. But not had it since I left home (ma + pa's) donkeys years ago. It was a staple back then.
*not really, got next Friday and Monday (bank holiday) off. Boy could I get used to a 3 day working week. Alas, it's never going to happen.

Good God no. Coconut is for curry (in milk/cream form), macaroons or Bounties.

I'm with you on coconut, Tids. Desiccated coconut literally makes me sick - it's the feel of it in my mouth, I think. Over the years, the association of smell with the gag reflex has become established so I avoid it like the plague - with a solitary exception and that's cream of coconut in curry as a thickening agent (provided it's not a separately identifiable flavour).

I, too, like liver (crispy bacon) and onions. but have always been in a minority of one in this household. However, since our daughters have flown the nest the balance has been restored.
Nevertheless I can still only order it as a (my choice) ready meal when I want a day off cooking and Mrs D chooses something else (usually pasta based).
Cool story *
* maybe not.

Pretty sure it's not that difficult to cook decent liver and bacon. My school dinner ladies in the 80's used to be able to do it perfectly passably.

The Blues Brothers is one of those films I have on DVD which, when on tv, I have to watch despite the advert breaks.
