Tightest Parallel Park Record (8 cm / 3.15 in) =How I wish that the driver was a woman... Tidy. I must admit that my parallel parking skills are probably at 90% of what they used to be. I blame it on me getting used to relying on a reversing camera.

Morning all! Well, a fun trip into the office today. Fun. We’ve had torrential rain on the south coast since 6pm yesterday - just keeps coming down. That’s on top of the intense winds* of the last couple of day. As a result, all of the drains are blocked on the roads. So large parts of my route to work had hefty areas of standing water. Some parts were flooded from one side to the other. Luckily things kept moving, and I only saw one car in need of assistance on the A27 - either they’d skidded or they’d flooded the engine. Either way, it was facing the wrong way and had a police car protecting it. TVblog: Deep Space 9. A dying-Klingon is beamed aboard after his ship explodes returning from a mission in the Gamma Quadrant. Then the regular crew start to get intensely paranoid… Always enjoy a Start Trek where the crew go mental. Warhermitblog: more Termie painting. Workblog: colleague on holiday + system issues across the board + password change day = why oh why did I get out of bed this morning? *thanks, Tuffers

Seeing as water and electricity don't mix well I'd be fascinated to watch an electric car go through a large deep puddle. I'm hoping it'd be like being tasered.

Seeing as water and electricity don't mix well I'd be fascinated to watch an electric car go through a large deep puddle. I'm hoping it'd be like being tasered. It’s a fully-sealed battery, so no issues at all. And because there’s no exhaust or intake valves, nothing can be ingested.

Walked my daughter to school. She was complaining about a "pal" who is a greetin' faced wee thing. Cries at the drop of a hat if she doesn't get her way. They're in P6 for god's sake.
I'm reinforcing the idea that she can do classwork with who she wants and doesn't have to be stuck with this girl.
I'm so pleased she's seeing the light. I just hope she has the gumption/bottle to tell her she wants to work with other folk for a change. Not helped by the teacher pairing them up for an easy life to avoid a greetin' wean.
Games. Wee bit of AC: Vikings TV. SAS drama thing. Watched two back to back and was up far too late.

Morning
My Chrome browser no longer lets me view comments on Grauniad articles, though apparently it will still let me post comments.
I'm not sure why this is, nor whether it's a good thing or a bad thing.
In other news: Lots of rain about.

Not a word.
I like to shower using techniques developed by the SAS to allow them to be up and out of bed, showered and ready for combat in under 20 minutes. Speed showering. It's basically showering, but you try not to daydream and just stand there for a while. I'm saving the full details for an upcoming books, Busibness Secrets of the SAS, What They Don't Teach You at Swaffham Poly, or BSotSWTDTYaSP for short.
On the whey into work I encountered an enormous puddle completely blocking the path. I tried to creep around the edge and even stamped on some nettles, but ceded defeat and turned around, stepping right in a big bit of puddle as I did. I suppose you could say I had cold feet, because I did, cold and wet. In the end I just backtracked and went around it. I'd love to know how the SAS deal with big puddles. Shoes and socks off and wade through, then a quick sit down (no longer than 5 minutes) to dry with a towel I would guess.

Do they touch on speed showering in the SAS thing you're watching crank? Or big puddles? Nettles?

Paddy Mayne in one episode hangs a metal canister of water (I'm assuming heated) and shoots holes in it with his sidearm (Amipal will be along shortly to tell you the correct term for the weapon) to make a shower.
You could do that, but I believe pistols are pretty much banned in the UK. Get one of those eastern European decommissioned ones and bore it out?
Seems a faff though when you could just get a power shower fitted.
The big puddles were quicksand. The nettles were barbed wire fences round the airfields.

Moaning
No rain here.
Last night I spotted that Apollo Creed Odyssey was available was on the PS+ Cool Guy package so I downloaded it as I haven't played it before. The 300 style scrap at the beginning was jolly good fun. I then spent an hour or so tearing around Kefalonia investigating, but mostly looting. 4* would recommend.
("Hey Tuffers, 2018 wants it's game review back you bellend")
Oh.
OTTM, I have a pukka pie (steak flavour) in the fridge for todays lunch. I can hear it calling me already.

I'm not sure why this is, nor whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. In other news: Lots of rain about. Just peachy; Tesco Tom is due and has a habit of getting stuff out of the van crate by crate, stacking them slooowly one by one on the trolley so that they all get a drenching; which means I have to wipe every.single.thing /much later - ...and that took 45 minutes...

Twenty minutes?
I'm up and out in 15 with a shower. 10 without one. Pre-covid days with a shave and a shower it was about 18 minutes. I have a coffee at work to actually wake up.

I had a nice bottle of Westvleteren 12 beer last night. I didn't quite bolt it but might as well have done as i was thirsty after the football.
It went straight to my head. No messing. I felt all Crankcallery. Note to self: Do not bolt bottles of 10.5% ABV beer. They are to be drunk sensibly over at least 10 minutes.
