Morning. Mr Frosty has been weaving his glittery magic, the bawbag. Cold out.
On the trains. Train #1. Games. No. TV. Slow Horses S2.
Sitting at Cathcart now as there is a points failure near Glasgow Central and the trains are backed up. FFS.
This may impede my coffee and payday breakfast purchase. Christ.

Hi
I heard the noise again last night. The pm heard it too so I no longer doubt my brain health (any more than before anyway). Was it scratching or was it a draught working upon the door knob? Odd that it only happens in the depths of the night, and comes from the same place.
I drifted off to sleep then was shocked into wakefulness by an almighty ‘flump’ (noise). Like a knight of yore I got up (fully naked) and went to face my fears. A coat had fallen off the back of the front door. Or had it been removed by a phantasmal hand?

Blue sky and sunny here. Also cold, with a very slight frost here and there.
My network access has been restored, so I have much catching up to do.
After watching Switzerland get thumped last night, I worry for England now. Should Gareth go with a back 5 for France?

We have a work party today. At 14.00 everyone will go to a large lecture theatre / teaching space with a stage. In the past this room has had tables laden with platters of beige party grub. This year talk is that there will be mince pies only. I’m hopeful for the party grub, though will probably have had a sensible sandwich at Caffe Nero first.
Not much to say about the party. Jay Rayner was at the last one - playing in a jazz band and eating breaded goujons.

After watching Switzerland get thumped last night, I worry for England now. Should Gareth go with a back 5 for France? One thing you need to know about the French - They don’t like it up ‘em. I can’t see England beating them actually. But really ‘France being good’ really just seems to ride on them having Kylian Mbappé. There are lots of teams with a stand-out player. It isn’t enough. I don’t know. I’m clueless. We must stand a chance, though, surely. Gareth sees their Kylian Mbappé and raises it one Harold of Kane.

Also - the pundits talk a load of shit. The ‘best player in the world’ epiphet just depends on who’s playing at the time:
Mo Salah Lionel Messi Cristiano Ronaldo Kylian Mbappé
The term is liberally applied.
I mean Kylian Mbappé is great. Maybe the best player in the world at the moment, I’d say ...

4 weekly pay cycle - so 13 pays over the year and the date changes every month but always a Wednesday.
I'm an hour late for work. But I just have had an egg'n'cheese McMuffin & hash brown. Coffee from Black Sheep. It wasn't the Pret breakfast I had planned - but it was good in a nasty way.
Had to bite my tongue talking to my pal last night. He sometimes sounds like a Sun reader (he's not) when it comes to politics and his opinions on folk striking weren't exactly lining up with mine.
He's a supermarket worker and said half the folk striking shouldn't be as they were on good salaries - twice his and more. I told him not to believe the salaries bandied about in the press and by the Govt - but we had to agree to differ and I went to bed.

I remember seeing the salary for London tube drivers once, which was the same as that for starting teachers. It seemed … better than I expected. I can’t see anyone’s pay going up in line with inflation. Wouldn’t prices (typically) need to go up to pay for this - exacerbating inflation? Maybe it’s a crisis of capitalism. I have a newspaper called Socialist Appeal in my bag, which I bought outside Euston Square a few weeks back. I’m sure this will tell me everything I need to know. I haven’t looked at it yet …

Morning
Freezing out there. Global warming my arse.
No footer for two days. Sigh.
Watched Alien. Well not til the end, got to where they go looking for the 'little' Alien but find the cat instead, which leads them to abandon all plans to stay in a group with the tracker device, idiots.
OTTM, ate too much coleslaw before bed.
OOTTM, inflation linked pay rises? CPI in October was 11.1%, RPI was 14.2%. Not gonna happen unless you have uncapped inflation guarantees in your CONEtract. Same inflation problems over most of Europe. Just as planned by Big Gatesy and Big Klaus. You will own nothing and you will be happy.
