Ooh, is it not pancake day anymore?
Happy times everyone was too busy using frying pans to have a domestic and hit each other with them.
Having solved a kidnapping my work was fulfilling, actually the wife left her phone on a bus and went to look for it, husband was scared as he tracked said phones odd route and then the daughter burst into tears when a bloke answered the phone.
Not the worst or beat bits of the night but the odd one.

At least I am grumpy on my own, gongfarmer... although I have to follow everyone else's timetables, which's why I am so crossgrained atm. And its my own nappies that I have to deal with... Early morning stuff now done, including the insulin. I could murder a mug of tea, but that waits for the blanket boys at 10-ish. More sleep required... |

Chumbles.....if your legs are going to be an on going problem and restrict you to bed couldn't social services adapt your house for wheel chair use. At least you'd be able to get about the house.

My bedside table already isn't big enough to carry the insulin gear which sits precariously on an armchair whilst the table carries tablets, phone, trackball, tissues and grot bag. About half the time the carers would forget the water or milk; my mother used to burn the element out once every 2-3 months! |

Some sort of Wallace and Gromit machine is required. It drops a robot arm with the insulin jagger, brings your cup of tea on a train track and a bowl of porridge pops up from below the bed.
With hilarious* results.
*Scalding, insulin od & porridge all over the walls.

Chumbles.....if your legs are going to be an on going problem and restrict you to bed couldn't social services adapt your house for wheel chair use. At least you'd be able to get about the house. I'd rather plan for improvement; being determined to survive has got me through this so far. The current situation is the result of Podiatry's insane, anti-callus pogrom, which screwed up my stable holding pattern*. My morphine intake went from 30 ml a week to 60ml overdosing a day, literally screaming when I first put my bleeding feet to the ground before the pain receptors overloaded. The resulting blood bridge also led to a kidney infection and a UTI which my surgery's incompetence led to a diagnosis over 8 weeks, a duplicate series of tests and septic shock, collapse and A&E, ICU and nearly dying, before I got any antibiotics. *(Waiting for a battery of 4 angioplasties, currently awaiting the repair of the scanner / operating setups.) I'll go to other procedures once the mainline, more positive process is exhausted. |

crankcaller and me running Scotland and England respectively? I recall some of the arse-licking, toadying colleagues I had at the top of the pyramid and how very unpleasant some of them could be. Others not quite sane (normally moved into cataloguing, out of the public's sight). They were too much bother to discipline out of the service - they were eventually sectioned after they had done something too violent to ignore (like attacking my mate with a pair of cutting shears when he was at the top of a 12' rail ladder in the reserve stacks)!
