Thanks to the dose of morphine, I had the dubious pleasure of being woken from a 5h death grip sleep at 7.15 a.m. by a freezing cold flannel up the jacksie.

Supoib header. Morning. On the trains. Games. No. TV. Your Honor. Booked a holiday in that Paris for start of July. Fuck me, flights are expensive nowadays. Not been abroad since the stork appeared with a child. scubar, muffrat and other continental botherers... Do you still get cash? Or just pay by card for everything like you do here?

I don't think the bully clique exists. They're just a robust and direct bunch of lads without whom the box would be ungovernable.
(Can anyone lend me some lunch money?)

Crank
Pay by card. That way it's doubly not real money. And it's much easier to pretend it's not so expensive.
You'll need a bit of cash obviously. But everywhere takes cards.
Even the beer selling monks.

Crank - you need to get a huge roll of monopoly money and stuck a few Euro notes on top and bottom. Then for every transaction, no matter how small, you should attempt to barter the price down really loud.
That's how you holiday properly.

Crank,
If you are approached by a young woman with a clipboard near the Eiffel Tower it is either:
(i) The resistance leader from 'Allo Allo
(ii) A scam whereby you'll be asked to help by answering questions. Then a group will surround you, making a fuss and clearing out your pockets in the process. Saw it happen when visiting a few years ago.
Also the view from the top of the Galeries Lafayette is free and quite wonderful.

Not been abroad since the stork appeared with a child. scubar, muffrat and other continental botherers... Do you still get cash? Or just pay by card for everything like you do here? Depends on your bank, some of them charge fees for withdrawing cash or being used abroad. We’re with Starling who don’t charge, which makes it easier. We do still get some euros though, as there’ll invariably be shops that don’t take card. And this being France, they’ll go out of their way to make it harder for you. Although you might benefit from being Scottish. Maybe ham it up a bit.

Besides, he’ll have already given his wallet to the wallet inspector.

Morning
Another strike day. Another next week. Yay for education!
Eldests first DofE camping trip tomorrow. I've bought her two pot noodles (king size) and a large bag of Opal fruits. Sorted.
Work systems are kaput. Happened earlier in the week too. Thanks a bunch, Vlad.
OTTM, no.

Currently pre-installing Redfall on Game Pass, not sure why because every other time I've pre-installed a game a Day 1 patch meant reinstalling the whole thing anyway.

Make sure you visit the 'Auld Alliance' boozer, where you can enjoy the privilege of paying 10 Euros for a sort-of-pint of Caledonian 80 or similar.

I use Wise (formerly TransferWise). I've found them to be very reliable, and they issue a free debit card. They're about the cheapest way of converting currencies that I can find, and you can use the card abroad easily to pay for stuff or take out cash with minimal charges. Also useful if you ever want to make payments in other currencies so you can buy weird books from Australia or America that aren't published in the UK.
Much cheaper than a high street bank or the Post Office.
Obviously I don't ever actually travel anywhere, because I'm working instead.
OTTM: I see the bullying clique is now denying its own existence, and using more subtle menaces to get people to "lend" them lunch money.
