I have no specific issue with the food fighters. Inoffensive middle of the road rock. Their first two albums were good

I think Grohl has a bit of an ego, but then so would I in his position

I wish Kurt Cobain would appear. That it was all a ruse. That he would appear on stage and banish Dave Grohl to the side, for him to fear-grin and hold the palms of his hands to his face.

I don’t like Jo Whiley’s act. She says she likes everything. I bet she’d say she liked Heinrich Himmler if he was on the Pyramid Stage…

I met a professional drummer the other day so by way of conversation I asked who his top 5 drummers were. Numbers 5 to 2 were all these niche jazz and session guys that I've never heard of but the kind of thing you'd expect to hear in such a conversation. His number one was Dave Grohl. Food for thought.

Hal Blaine? Played on an astonishing number of hits in tbe 1960s and 1970s. I'd also go for Buddy Rich. After that I'm stumped. It's very much a matter of choice.

Fifth? Pretty good considering he wasn't even the best drummer in The Beatles.

This is not connected to the Richard Starkey comment. I mean, I can't comment on that. I was talking about best drummer.

I occasionally think about my favourite drummers. I don’t know why …
I think my favourite drummer’s maybe Stephen Morris from New order / Joy Division.
He’s good.

Mike Joyce was very briefly in Suede (before they were successful) They advertised in NME for a drummer like Mike Joyce. He turned up to audition and they didn't know how to cope with it. They were basically student drop outs and he was internationally famous. He did give them some good advice apparently.

Alex Turner looks like he's (more than normal) off his noggin on Angel dust and Nuke poppers. Like a young Elvis Tuffers.
The PM took the younglings to see them at Hillsborough Park in Sheffield a few weeks ago. I stayed at home. Everyone had a good time.
Their debut and 'AM' albums are pretty good. Particularly the debut one.
