It is better to vary your starting word. There are sneaks (me principally) around who will take advantage of knowing someone else's starting word to inform initial guesses given the opportunity. Some people (not me) regard this as underhand and devious behaviour. Others (me) regard using any information to hand as fair game. You either play to win or you don't. I have never understood not playing to win. Even if you aren't very good at something you can do better by being overcompetitive. Why not take it a step further, and just Google the answer every time?

You are the defence and midfield doing the hard work. I am Harry Kane popping the ball in the net. Does anyone think less of Kane for letting Spurs Bayern do all the work and just scoring the goals? No. No they do not.

I was taught* to play to win by a girl at Primary School. She was very competitive at tests. For 7 years she was bitterly furious every time I got the best score. Which was almost every time. I was a good winner though and mostly kind about it. Apart from the tests and because of the furious competitiveness to be first to learn a new topic we got on pretty well.
There was none of this everyone must have a prize and there are no losers when I was at school. You either won or were first loser at best. A strong ethos.
* Possibly. I think it is mostly innate.

It's called spitting the dummy doing a Destry.
I don't think you have enough things in your life that you can afford to ruin Wordle. Neither did Destry it turns out.

Sometime it's good to pretend not to care about winning. It's annoys a lot of folk who do want to win and takes away from their victory. This only works of course if you can pull off the nonchalance and keep the heid when they no-doubt say you do care.

My work laptop has slowed right down since I got it. Two web browsers with 4 tabs each, Outlook, Excel, AV software, jabber. They bought laptops in 2021 with 4GB ram. Fucks sake.

It's a Cisco softphone/IM application. I'm assuming they nicked the original IM Jabber application code.

It's called spitting the dummy doing a Destry. I downloaded the source code when Josh Wardle sold out to the NYT as i suspected it would be put behind a paywall. It wasn't but I lost interest anyway and haven't played it since. I suspect from comments here and elsewhere that NYT changed and americanised (americanized?) the database in any case.

Spellings were already American on it, but don't let that color your view of it.

Afternoon, winners, losers and cheaters.
Sad to report that Gong-acres is now a wasp-free zone. I have done a Tiddles on them. To be fair, i wasn't at all bothered by the snoring and flittering sounds... quite relaxing knowing they were close by but couldn't get in.
It was the night-time chittering and popping sounds of the grubs when they were hungry..... think Last-Of-Us clickers, or HL2 headcrabs. They had to go.

I just played my downloaded version of the game. I got it in 3 but if Crank's starting word is correct along with his scorecard then today's NYT wordle is different from my downloaded version.

Aaaaaaaggggggghhhhh.
I've never been as close to replying to an email from a customer with "Fuck off you cunt" as I have since receiving one from a prick about 5 mins ago. Arsehole.
Tids. You may be visiting Scotland.

For my trip to the west coast of Scotland I just emailed a few libraries asking if they had any books on local history.

Don't fuck up fucking up the wasps, the revenge they get might be painful at the time but then becoming allergic to them is just a pain. Watching the pharmacists panic and say a trip to a and e was fun though.

Morning nerds
Busy with work this week. Mostly trying to cover any tracks for when I'm off next week so I don't get rumbled for anything.
Last night I thought I'd give Better Call Saul a go. Watched the first three episodes of series one. It was quite good. Wonder if it will keep me hooked like Breaking Bad where I watched all five series in about three weeks last month.
Lunchblog - Leerdammer on buttered toast with English mustard on top. Well nice.
No games.
OTTM, no.
