When I lived in Plymouth, they all seemed to think by my Norfolk accent that I was Australian.

I guess South London also includes Peckham, which is where all the young hepcats now live. So if your were a musician you might inform your audience you were from South London to make sure they knew you were a bona fide hepcat.

My mums parents lived in Orpington, and would have conniptions if anyone referred to them as Londoners. They were 'Kentish-folk".
Having looked it up, prior to 1965 they were right, so I can't blame them for feeling they were subsumed into the metropolis against their will.

When I lived in Plymouth, they all seemed to think by my Norfolk accent that I was Australian. Iβve also been confused for someone from Australia. Actually when I lived in Liverpool. Someone I worked with used to say βGβday Australianβ (in an Australian accent), whenever they saw me. Great banter.

Thereβs one in Southport too. I donβt know if theyβre official. Just β¦ mindsets.

I actually used to live in South London myself. Look at that - I'm part of the problem.

Destry is actually keeping pretty quiet, on the South London issue. Keeping his own counsel. With a pork-pie hat and copy of the racing post - ensconced in Wetherspoons, anticipating his next dish of jellied eels.

I'm from London, Sarf London.
I am reminded of a childhood holiday, where I made the acquaintance of a young fellow also from S London on holiday. He helpfully pointed towards the local kids in the videogame arcade and said, "Don't worry about this lot - they're all poofs".
I think he fancied a scrap with them.

Due to the railways and then the BBC, the Brighton/Sussex accent has largely been replaced by a generic south/London accent.
I keep trying to bring back Sussex words. Words like cackleberry (egg), or dumbledore (bumble bee).
Also, making a conscious effort to say days of the week with a βdeeβ rather than a βdayβ. βSundeeβ as an example.

I also played Black Desert. Not for me. Although β¦ I got to create myself as a wizard, and itβs a bit like a Japanese World of Warcraft (I think). I donβt think Iβll ever play it again. Loads of people mucking about. It seemed designed for PCs. IBM Compatibles. Considered downloading Baldurβs Gate 3. I want a thrilling sandbox game. The best sandbox game ever made. Nothing fits the bill. You daft racist Baldur's is the answer.

Hello. I've got an empty tonight. The child & PM are off to stay at the in-laws. The PM's niece is being brought up from that England to go to Glasgow Uni.
Unfortunately the child's fucking school are hosting some meet the teachers bollocks so we can meet her new teacher. We'll meet her at parents nights in a month or so. What a waste of time.
So I'm losing an hour of gaming/boozing err hour.
