I've been reading excerpts from Shenguin's autobiography,
“I was still in my Juliette Gréco stage, so I had no makeup, jeans and scruffy hair, and the director, Richard Fleischer, came in and said: ‘Oh my God, I cannot look at you – you are so ugly.’ He said: ‘You cannot go around like that – put some makeup on, get your hair done, get a proper dress.’".
