That Marmite spaghetti does sound good hangover food. PMs work has a bout of Covid going about. She's feeling grotty but tested negative yesterday. Called in sick today. Her go-to food when feeling crook is 2 beef Oxo cubes dissolved in a cereal bowl of boiling water, then adding as much ripped up bread slices as the bowl will hold til the whole affair looks like some kind of brown jelly, and then slurping the whole lot down. Looks revolting but smells appetising, and provides enough salt, carbs and fluid to kick-start a jaded system. How does she eat it? With a spoon? I can’t imagine the bread has much structural integrity. It must just turn into a savoury, meaty lump. And I have to say that I want to try it. Yup - large spoon. The bread has no integrity at all - imagine digestive biscuit collapsed into a mug of hot tea

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.35pm on Sunday 1 October, we received a report of a driver unable to stop his electric car on the A803 heading towards Kirkintilloch. The car was travelling at a low speed and officers carried out a controlled halt with the aid of a police vehicle. There was no damage to either vehicle.
There's a Police Scotland quote confirming it was an electric car, Elon. I’ll see how this “plays out” as more facts arrive. Just cognisant of how much anti-EV FUD is currently being spread. The fossil fuel lobbies have deep pockets. There have been occasional similar problems with ordinary vehicles as well. Accelerators getting stuck or brakes failing. There have been quite a few issues with Teslas not being reliable and causing collisions. Any vehicle where the braking is electronically controlled would be subject to the same potential issue regardless of the engine. So almost all modern vehicles could be at risk. The upside being that when they work properly the automatic braking systems are safer. My dad's car panicked recently. My parents were picking me up and the drive in to the flats is quite narrow with cars parked on one side. As we were leaving the car thought we were about to hit an object and slammed to a halt from. It was clearly in error as it was close, but just outside wing mirror distance and not hitting. Sort of reassuring and sort of not. It's a petrol Octavia. I wasn't driving. While I understand the automated systems are safer I'm not sure I'm keen on cars that do that.

Are you sure you didn't just run someone over?

Yes. As my mum was driving, I did not run anyone over.

Automatic Cruise Control adjusting speed based on what the radar reads in from of the car. There’s been a couple of times in two years of ownership where it’s braked suddenly, thinking I’m about to hit something.

I've had a throttle jam fully open on me in the wet. 1973 3.0 Granada, up a corkscrew hill in Orpington at night. No big problemo.
Great story, etc...

Fresh chilli stills gets up the nose no matter how many times you wash your hands.

amipal is right to question to credibility of Guardian headlines. World’s dogs going vegan ‘would save more emissions than Shenguin produces’.I mean, who's gonna believe that?

I did. [Reply to Felice. Tho i do believe Tiddles] Plenty of soap and water or doing the washing up is the way forward.
I have accidentally rubbed my eyes with hot chilli hand before. And also had a sudden intense burning sensation while peeing.
Lesson learned. Pee before chopping the chilli.

I have not set eyes or nose on fire, but I have set my mouth alight with a combo of black pepper sauce and bird eye chillies

Demon's Souls: couple more bosses done. Now in 5-2, which is a shit area 5-2 is my favourite area. It's absolutely appalling for ages, but once you know it and are going for the platinum there are loads of hidden bits. You have to go through the village and open the shortcut. It makes the boss fight much easier to vet to.

Abolishing the Manchester leg, this country. Next they’ll be coming for the Newcastle ear lobe and the Hull scrotum.
