Morning cupcakes. On the trains.
Games. HZD TV. Finishing off Rabbit Hole. It's annoying me, but I want to know what happened. Fuck a S2.
There's some cunt on this train with a Bridie or something. The smell is giving me the boak.

I have redundancy calculations to complete today, cheery stuff. They aren't in the UK though so they actually get a decent amount.
Also, rain.

Got a chance to get Tay Tay tickets for next August, Pref.Mam. is on board though I'm ambivalent as it's at Wembley and I prefer being indoors.

I bought tickets to see The Smile (Thom & Jonny's not Radiohead but sounds exactly like them band) in Birmingham and London in March. O2 Academy in Brum which is small and Alexandra Palace which is not. Admittedly both venues are indoors.
Felice is right that indoor concerts are generally better. The noise restrictions at outdoor venues mean the concerts aren't quite loud enough. I do not want people to be able to talk through songs. Also there were no outdoor venues.
Last time I tried to see Thom Yorke it caused a pandemic. I am hoping there is no repeat.

Gig chat: the smaller the venue the better, imho. I have a ticket for Queens of the Stone Age tonight, but it's at the o2, which is a shit venue. It's too big, the sound always seems a bit too quiet, and last time I was there they ran out of beer. How the fuck does that happen?!

Ozymandias Kane 3rd Growl of Tharn, 1st Precept, King of Arandor, Admiral and all round good guy, (And 5th cousin of Fred, 2,546th nephew to Rigel the 19th twice removed on his mum's sister's side).

Hi
Last night I wandered the streets for about 3 hours doing favours for strangers. At the end of the night I came home with a Stinky Pipe*.
I also played Dying Light 2.
*This is genuinely the name of a weapon I was gifted for doing someone a favour. Also I might be getting slightly better as I only died a couple of times. This was mainly due to only going out in the day time.
OTTM, no

It's too big, the sound always seems a bit too quiet, and last time I was there they ran out of beer. How the fuck does that happen?! I saw Radiohead at the O2 a few years ago and we were sat quite a way from the stage, but must have been at the exact distance for bass resonance. The bass was quite astonishing. and was clearly louder then the rest of the band. It didn't quite drown them out . It was obviously not quite right, but it did make for a visceral experience. I have a recording of the show (not made by me) and the bass is normal. There is no doubt that bands are not as loud as they were in the 1980s apart perhaps from My Bloody Valentine. It might be better amplifiers and more speakers mean they don't need to generate the same SPL to be heard. I think it's more noise enforcement though. I think venues are given maximum decibel levels for sound leakage which effectively limits the sound inside. It's very clear outdoors concerts are much quieter. When Springsteen played at V*ll* Park in 1985 you could hear the sound from miles away. It's been obvious for almost 20 years that the sound at a stadium or park is not turned up to the same levels. It's disappointing. Feeling slightly deafened for a bit after a gig is an essential part of a good rock concert.

Have you considered that the music sound level is the same but you're all now hearing impaired after listening to loud music for to many years.

The ringing in my left ear after they finished their set was louder than the music had been. I've had tinnitus ever since

I now use ear plugs. Even though I can hear perfectly well with them, they are great for shutting down any unwanted conversation. If someone talks to me and I can't be arsed, I just point to them and shrug

Have you considered that the music sound level is the same but you're all now hearing impaired after listening to loud music for to many years. Too not to. The last couple of outdoor gigs people were talking during songs and you could hear them. This wasn't way at the back or anything. It's absolutely obvious the sound levels are down. I do appreciate it is for good reasons. It protects people's hearing and cuts noise pollution. It's probably still possible to be too close to speakers and do a Faceless, but it is less easy. No one wants hearing damage.
