I try not to be too inconsiderate. Mostly They are older flats and the soundproofing is pretty good. I can never hear noise from upstairs. I can't hear anything from the flats on the same level either. Occasionally I can hear people running up or down stairs. I don't listen to anything loud in the bedroom which is the only room directly opposite a neighbour. I have occasionally been woken by people hammering in picture hooks and the like. I know my upstairs neighbour well enough so if he was disturbed by noise he'd have no problem asking me to turn it down. I have lived in places before where the floor/ceiling seemed to act as an amplifier rather than a barrier to sound, which is not great.

Biggest difference is the sound and volume, that tends to make watching most films in the Cinema worth it. I had room filling sound. Slightly too room filling. I had to turn it down below the usual level I watch films at. The flats are pretty soundproof. Plus the man who lives upstairs is slightly deaf. Well he is now.

I didn't enjoy Barbie. Way too Wes Anderson adjacent for me. What's wrong with Wes? I just don't like his films. I've tried - even seen some of them twice. It's not me, it's him.

Let the record show that I also dislike the films of Wes Anderson. I don't like either of the two central components - pastel colours, and aggressive quirkiness

Looked up Wes Anderson to see who he was. Still none the wiser really.

Tell me, Mr. Anderson...what good is a phone call... if you're unable to speak?

I don’t like Wes Anderson’s films either. I think I kind of hate them.

I think it’s because they’re:
Not funny Not interesting Not atmospheric Not thought provoking Not exciting They seem a bit pleased with themselves People seem to think they’re high art People laugh at the terrible humour
Yes I actually really do hate them.
An excessive reaction. But utterly justified.

The characters are not engaging The dialogue is poor
It’s just my opinion…
People say they look nice but there are lots of films that look nice. They’re heavily stylised but what’s the point if it doesn’t get you … HERE?

I have liked some of them. The last few were too clever for their own good and basically what Lazy said.

I had a bad emergency. I put the extras Blu Ray of Oppenheimer on, but it froze. The blu ray player has an integrated lead. So to turn it off I had to turn off the socket. It's on an extension lead. When I turned the extension back on it did not turn on. An inspection suggested the power switch is broken. This meant no TV, no ps5, no music.
Emergency trip to Currys. I now have a 10 extension lead to replace the 8 one. Currys customer service is awful. Despite there being at least 5 staff and no more than 2 customers in store, only one buying anything (me), it took them about 5 minutes to serve me.
New lead works and everything is now back working.

I like Wes Anderson’s films. Grand Budapest Hotel is my favourite of his.

If you saw a girl, obviously keeping distance from two lads and then the lads run back and grab her, you would ask if she was OK? I think the silence speaks volumes. No, nobody else would; they would stay silent. I would, depending on the circumstances. I would not expect a polite or understanding response from any of the people involved.

Asteroid City was great.
Going back to a conversation a few days ago about reviews, you can also tell the quality of a film/director/actor by the people who dislike it/them.

I have never seen a Wes Anderson film. Wes Craven, on the other hand, is the dog's bollocks

I was hoping to have a ‘difficult conversation’ with someone at work today. Difficult in the sense that I was going to go through the various ways they had disappointed me over the past year, taken from a big spreadsheet.
When I saw them this morning they were at their desk sobbing - saying they weren’t coping with things. We didn’t have the conversation ….
By the end of the day I was annoyed again - doing work they should have been doing. I was asking them questions on progress of a job only to find they hadn’t started it. Ah man.

Maybe the conversation should be along the lines of you'll find it tougher to cope without a job.
Either that or develop a support plan so that Faceless can perform more effectively.

Not me guv. I'm in a similar situation to lazyb. The person I manage basically does fuck all. I'll be spending much of tomorrow doing work she's supposed to be doing. If I ask her to do it I'll just have to listen to her complain about how it's the wrong thing to be doing, how everything was better when she worked somewhere else, and how she's both simultaneously too busy and has nothing to do. Quicker to just do it myself
