The first time I came across having to scan your receipt to get out was in Paris. Not seen it up here yet. Which is surprising.
It wouldn't work in Manchester.

When I volunteered in a charity shop I was surprised that there was so much shoplifting. My manager said that the least suspect we're the worst offenders. Sweet looking little old ladies with shopping trolleys. My theory was that they brightened up a boring day with a bit of thieving.

Self checkouts give you the option of taking or leaving your receipt. It's the only evidence you've got that you've been honest. Why opt out of having proof your honest.

Similar to spending excess money on "voter or benefit fraud". The first purely political to disenfranchise people, the second "a sledgehammer to crack a nut". Also why waste paper?

I was very much brought up in an era where you put everything in a bag and you get a receipt.
I love walking out just carrying stuff. No bag, no receipt. I do pay for everything.

If you ever get stopped leaving a supermarket because the alarm goes off and the security look through your shopping it's best to have a receipt to show what you've paid for. Just makes life easier.

And a later call has confirmed that the team I’m in is fine. Phew. It's a trap! ”Fine for now” is what I should have probably written.

I went out earlier, first time this year I felt the need to wear gloves.
Also, MiL is getting me some leather murdering gloves for Xmas this year. All the gloves.

I always get a receipt. If the machine doesn’t spool one out I worry I might get my collar felt.

Why do you all hate people?
If everyone refused to use self checkouts (assuming there is a normal checkout with a human) like I do, they'll have to rip them out and give some people jobs.
Power to the People!

You young* people don't yet understand that as one gets older the "body"** keeps telling you to stop doing what you're doing, you're not in your twenties any more, fucking grow up.
You partially accept this and then you ignore it and think that feeling shit for at least a day is worth it.
It's not.
and on that bombshell my aim is to live to an higher age than that mass murdering cunt Kissinger.
*Except Destry, no shade. **probably because of Bill Gates "Planned obsolescence" microchips implanted by vaccines/5G.

If I use a checkout staff are trained to engage customers in conversation. Why would I want to talk to anyone. Self service all the way.

Supermarkets work hard at putting across an image of being friendly to entice customers to return. I'd be surprised if they don't employ psychologists to look at ways of making their customers feel included. And checkout staff are the front face of the business. If they are not trained to engage with customers in a positive way then they are missing a big opportunity.

I ordered some second hand cd's from Amazon. They were all very cheap. The first one Pacific Ocean Blue has arrived. The others are apparently coming from Berlin and going to be a week. FFS.
Just had cottage pie that the PMs mum made and there's some home made ginger cake for afterwards.

Chinese takeaway ordered. Made by Vietnamese orphans, probably, probably not but the point still stands. I'm thinking seriously about the kebab* I'm planning to order later. *made with lamb
