Talking to a colleague who had to go to a library at the last moment to cover a school visit. 47 kids. 2 classes.
He knew some of the kids had special needs. Couldn't understand a few of the kids, asking them to repeat what they said. Some of the other kids telling him what they said.
The classes go and someone else asks him how he got on with the Gaelic class.

Just popped up to collect dog from his pre-xmas trim, as he had become a shaggy monster lately. On the way there had to squeeze past a fire engine and pair of ambulances outside a house a few doors up from gong acres. No smoke or fire evident. Ominous. On the way back had to squeeze past them again, only this time there was a stretcher with a body under a sheet as well. Grim.

I watched the haunting thing on Netflix with Darth Marenghi last night, bit middling. Bly Manor? I thought it was rubbish. The one after - Midnight Mass - is much better I've not seen Midnight Mass. I have seen House of Usher and another one with a broken necked lady ghost.

Can anyone recommend an excellent kitchen … piece of kitchen technology? A gadget? Not an air-fryer. Something like the gadgets created by the inventor dad in Gremlins. Or any gadget - piece of novel tech. I need a Christmas present for my dad. What would be really useful is something that cuts potatoes into thin slices. I am always seeming to need to do that for recipes and cutting potatoes into thin slices is no fun at all! So maybe your Dad would also enjoy that thing if you can find one.

I've owned a few mandolines and stopped as they are fucking dangerous though I keep looking at the ones that supply, what are effectively, chain mail gloves.

You can get them from IKEA.

You should try using the handle attachment they come with. Or, y’know, being careful.

Banjoes are safer. At least until someone tires of the noise. Too much danger of being kidnapped in the woods and made to squeal like a pig.
