Fucks sake Kane. That's terrible news at anytime never mind two days before Christmas. Do you have a right to appeal? Not much help over the next fortnight I realise. I shall be avidly chasing them on it from next week onwards, in hindsight the 'don't ignore this letter' part should have been taken more seriously but the letter as a whole looked more like a spam or scam type deal than genuine, we shall see. I can thankfully use my bank card to travel for the moment. |

Those half witted B'stards at the local council have decided that in order for me to have a merry Christmas they have removed my disability travel permit - at 6pm on a friday night just before the Christmas weekend. Communication you ask, yes I received a letter to my address written/typed in standardised nonsense by one of their monkey's asking me to contact the DVLA for paperwork to do with my ongoing Schizophrenia and inability to drive, baring in mind I have never driven/held a license/owned a car! I am aware it's a privilege (no it's not) not a right (yes it is) to have one as a British born British bred citizen but... Anger isn't even close to what I'm feeling right now. K. There's a group with mild learning difficulties that meet in the pub on Sundays for a roast dinner. One of them told me a while back that he'd received a letter saying he was no longer eligible for a disabled bus pass. The next large town from here for shopping he says will cost him £6.00 return. The bus pass is the only thing that gives him any kind of freedom. |

There's a group with mild learning difficulties that meet in the pub on Sundays for a roast dinner. One of them told me a while back that he'd received a letter saying he was no longer eligible for a disabled bus pass. The next large town from here for shopping he says will cost him £6.00 return. The bus pass is the only thing that gives him any kind of freedom. That's exactly how I think of it, the only reason I go out at all is to go to the café or get some shopping, I'm crowd o phobic so for me too many people when travelling can be too much, that said with my pass I was learning to handle it better, now I feel like I'm back in the naughty room. ffs what is wrong with these disability assist systems today. ps, I heard a rumour that they/councils were trying to cut spending by cutting freedom passes for the 'not so dead' disabled, it will not end well for them. |

I think maybe the problem is that our government is shit, and a decade of really shit government has made our entire society quite shit as well. There's very little sense of fairness, compassion or genuine social justice that remains in our collective thoughts, even in the mainstream left, let alone in the mainstream right. |
