Oh, we knew that the Saudi team was shit, but part of the family spent some formative (and alcohol free) years there. Hence the loyalty. We really liked how the crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, chatted throughout the game to Putin without paying much attention and merely shrugged as Russia scored yet another goal. I love the way that German has a word for schadenfreude. English lacks a word that sums up that universal emotion, which is why we've had to adopt schadenfreude into our language.
What English still lacks is a word for feeling proud and ashamed at the same time, e.g. in response to posting a really rude but self-amusing message on the internet. Does English or another language have a word for that? I'm asking for a friend, obvs.
