I have occasionally bought a copy of Edge, and Retro Gamer … In the same way I’ve occasionally bought other magazines since 1995. Maybe about to get on a plane or train. Maybe thinking this magazine could be the ‘one’ - the one magazine I get into and read every month.
It never happens.

"join a public library and use it you arseholes"
A lot of them have either pressreader or e-magazines via Borrowbox. My local library has Edge, Play, pc gamer, retro gamer, 110% Gaming, tabletop gaming and many other magazines such as cars, films, music, technology, food blah blah blah.

I have a box of old gaming magazines at my folks house. Probably 100 or so, going back to the early 90s
I'll probably never look at them again

I'm Goodfellas pizza pocket curious. Had a cursory Google. Just had one of the pepperoni ones. Very nice indeed. 2 mins in the microwave. Lovely soft flatbread folded (copyright Timo) in half with a delicious filling. 4* would recommend.

Not to be trusted.

I think Commodore User went on to become CU Amiga.
I used to make prank calls to CU Amiga … Even after I stopped thinking they were funny, I would do a prank call for a pack of chips from ‘George’s Best’.
Sad really. A sad story ….

Somebody should make Fission Chips, and make them ridiculously spicy.

Gather ye round, boys and girls.
A man has a soakaway dug out, as part of his building plans. About 4 feet down, he finds half a bakelite loo seat, and a circle of bricks about 5 feet across.... odd, thinks he. Digging deeper he finds the bricks are part of a structure which gets wider the deeper it goes.... Ancient clay drains appear..... Deeper and deeper goes the hole. Beer bottles from long-closed breweries appear.... Massively compressed gardening books appear.... Broken glass and china.... Masses of cockle-shells...... (?) The layers get deeper and deeper til at about 10ft the digger can reach no lower. The chamber bottom has not been reached. Puffing on a rolly, the digger driver says....
"looks to be an old cement-lined catchpit. You'll never be able to use it as a soakaway. Designed to be watertight.... .... anyway i'm off for a week in Skeggy.... let me know what the building inspector says."
GaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHH!
Drink? anyone?

A guy just drove by me in a top-down convertible, playing Love in the First Degree by Bananarama at nightclub volume. What is wrong with the young people today?

I'm not that young. And there is nothing wrong with me.
Except that i am guilty and slightly deafened.

Pretty sure i used to get Sinclair User rather than Your Sinclair. I think they were pretty much functionally identical. I The cover tape on one issue had a game i liked the look of. I think it was a game where you rode bikes round BMX circuits. Two players. No idea what it was called now. BMX racer or something probably. BMX Simulator www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuAvSgYzHU0

I had to look up 'soakaway' and 'catchpit'. Although not an expert, it seems to me gongfarmer has a problem. On the plus side, he's not the one spending a week in Skeggy...

At some point it might have been an idea to stop digging, rather than making a massive hole for a soakaway that can't be used as a soakaway.
just a thought.

Games?
I am really enjoying Lies of P. Now up to Malum District, having vanquished the Fallen Archbishop in a oner. It has the atmosphere and gameplay of Bloodborne, but slightly easier. The lore is complete nonsense and the NPCs all speak gibberish too.

I was hoping the denouement would be the uncovering of a damp and crumpled collection of jazz mags.
And the stirring of a dark supernatural force there to protect them.
