Full xfiles rewatch, probably shouldn't. Too much other stuff to catch up on.

hi
I woke up thinking about something I experienced yesterday. A queue in a pub. I know it’s not a new thing. They’ve been happening for a while, but somehow each new one seems a shock. I walked up to an empty space in a bar and felt the dagger-like glance from someone standing behind the person next to me.
Maybe queues in pubs make sense. It does make sense to queue. There’s an implacable sense of justice. But … it doesn’t feel right.
What are the practical reasons for standing at the bar? Maximising space? Allowing for one bar-tender to handle multiple orders at the same time?

On the old Chatterbox I went through a spell of overusing the word ‘ennui’. I realised this and stopped using it. But today it’s inescapable. I have an inescapable feeling of ennui.

The art of a good barman is knowing who your next customer is. Everyone spread out along the bar but they should know who to serve next. And if they make a mistake then you say " they were before me" and point out the person.

Having said that it's a long time since I've wanted to visit somewhere that's absolutely heaving with people desperate to be served. So my experience will be different from others.

And if they make a mistake then you say " they were before me" and point out the person. I know … Sadly that doesn’t happen much now - in my experience. If there isn’t a queue the bartender says ‘who’s next?’ and whoever replies first gets served …. Broken Britain.

They queue in the pub near me that's full of artists and young people. I think it's a fear thing, it causes a line right across the pub that doesn't need to be there. 100% the fault of the bar people. Who are also artistic young people. They can't take the responsibility of knowing who to serve so they abandon it to the customers. I also think maybe there's a whole generation that never went to the pub with their parents and now they are just 'doing' pubs like they imagine they are supposed to be. Sort of like aliens pretending to be humans and making stupid obvious mistakes, hence the queing. Wordle 1,074 5/6

Morning all!
We are aboard the Scillonion III, bound for the Scilly Isles. Or at least we will be once it leaves the docks. The main deck is busy, a real hubbub of chat. It worries me that I’ve seen so many people munching on bacon rolls…

I thought maybe the queueing in pubs started with people on holiday who had read that in the UK queueing is sacrosanct. Then people (not on holiday) felt uncomfortable jumping a queue and the queues remained. Then a chain reaction began.

Queuing in pubs is a bad business. I could get on board with a numbered ticket system. Or perhaps you book your service slot online 24 hours in advance?

Just go to unpopular pubs or at unpopular times. Queueing issue solved.

I wasn't on the dolphin. I was on a boat. The sick went on the dolphin. In case clarification is required

Morning
Work work work, working for our Alien masters, in exchange for a few crumbs of purified human waste to sustain my internal life source.
Hopefully 'socialist' Sir Kier will free me from this oppression. CHANGE!
OTTM, Robinsons squash is a tasty alternative to beer. With real fruit in every drop and no artificial flavours or added sugar. Plus, you don't need to queue at a bar. It's a win win scenario.
