Might swing the paedo vote from Epstein's buddy. I once saw a 100% true list of everyone who visited paedo Island. It was deffo true as it was on the internet. Bizarrely, one of the names was a random premier league footballer who would probably have been at primary school at the time, which rubber stamped the validity of the list. |

I have had a disaster. The result of too many Wednesdays in the week.
My laptop screen is not working properly.
Last year we disposed of a load of old monitors and cables against my better judgement. It was a museum quality collection.
I had an old monitor at home. It's a lovely widescreen I bought 10+ years ago. It's fine, but it doesn't have an HDMI connection. I had to go out and buy an HDMI to VGA cable so everything displays on the monitor.
Mostly I will be using this to look at new laptops.

Dragon Age Veilguard
I am absolutely furious with this game.
Mostly because I enjoyed playing the first hour.
There are lots of things that are wrong with it.
The Dragon Age servers no longer exist, so you can't import the world save from old games. I had 3 games worth of world history.
I had to turn the tutorials off and also the battle tutorial off.
Fuck me they are annoying. They were interrupting the start of the game every few seconds. It is the most appalling thing. I was playing on experienced level as well. Not mouthbreather level. Just trust the players a bit.
I don't like the fighting much. It's wank compared to the original Dragon Age Origins. Too much of it is done for you. Also the health system is stupid. There are breakable pots that appear if you run out of health potions. I don't like this system. They had it in DA2 and DAI as well. I much preferred making or buying all the potions I carry. If I run out I die. That's my fault. I do not know why they changed the system.
Also the game is too much on rails so far. There's no real choices. You can't do anything except what you are told to do in the order you are told to do it.
Also I don't like Varric. I would cheerfully put an axe through his head. He is annoying.
But
It looks good
The actual experience of playing was mostly good. Once the tutorials were off.
I'd really like the DA:O systems on a modern game, but I can see that is not going to happen. I might have to return to Pillars of Eternity. That was the closed I've seen recently.
Verdict
Four stars. Recommended.

Hello Boys, I'm not reading all of that, can someone summarise the last week? xxx There were two Wednesdays, no Thursday, so BDT didn't happen. Personally I consoled myself by drinking heavily. We spent most of the time stalking the QM2 and worshipping Cthulhu. There was a lack of both fish puns and the angry blue bear. |

Afternoon all!
Against my better judgement, we hosted a Halloween party yesterday evening. Luckily numbers were small, and guests well behaved.
The most horrendous thing to happen was me serving my PM a full-meat chilli - she’s been veggie for over a decade… luckily the mishap was accept in good humour.

* My awful life update *
I figured out my hifi problem was the connection between the turntable and the amp. In attempting to fix this with a bit of shaking and screwdriving, I appear to have completely broken the turntable. This is right up there with the toaster debacle of 2021. Now I need to go to HMV to buy the cheapest record player I can find.

And don't go to hmv to buy a turntable for god's sake. They'll fleece you. Richer Sounds. The Audio Technica ones are usually the best "budget" decks.

Unfortunately the cables are wired into the deck rather than jacks. It seems to be the wired end that's shoogly. But I think shaking it violently might be the real reason it's stopped working completely.
It's a really basic one (Audio Technica L60) but my speakers are good so it sounds good anyway. Surprisingly, HMV are selling the same model cheaper than Richer Sounds...

Rega RP1 or a Project Debut are probably the best cheap record players. The RP1 was always What HiFi's choice wasn't it for budget decks? Possibly more than Rolling wants to spend. |
