My current commute involves a ferry ride. It broke down while I was on it the other week, which was slightly worrying. Just being dragged along by the current. Still, I was already late so it was a perfect excuse.

My commute is 25 minutes on some traffic-light back roads through rural England, and I'd sack even that off right fast if I could, its just wasted time. Two and half hours is a fucking joke. I'm generally an easy going guy*, but that would drive a saint to murder. I have a job that I could work from home 4 out of every 5 days, but where I work is backward as fuck and also very, very paranoid**, so there is zero chance of that ever happening. * I absolutely am not. ** and rightly so, theres no way I'd do full hours at home. I'd be up at 10 am at the earliest , 2 hour lunch, stop at 3 pm and most of that "clocked on" time would be spent on the PS4 anyway. If you can do your job in those hours logically you could do the same in the office and look busy the rest of the time, so what's the difference apart from appearances? Seems there's not enough work or you're very good at your job Its a combination of hyperbole and corner cutting.

I'm happy with a 90 minute commute and working from home one day a week for the right job. I'm despairingly busy though so work is actually done at home.

My commute is a half hour walk to the next town or, if it's raining, a tense 3 minute train ride as I try to avoid the conductor and dodge the £2.50 fare.
It does currently involve a slight detour or two at the moment because my town is like Mad Max, but with Seagulls.

Seems there's not enough work or you're very good at your job He spends the rest of the time in the office working on his socialisation skills. The intern/junior seems to have disappeared. Oh he's still here the little rat. He's just come back from paternity leave, somehow he is capable of procreation despite looking like the sperm that spawned him gave up halfway through and decided that the genetic code for muscle structure was better used on the code for unwarranted arrogance.
His attitude is better than it was because he's been "talked to" by both my boss and her boss and has been assigned a mentor to keep an eye on him.
For some reason I was not chosen as his mentor.

It takes me 2.5 hours to get to work now there is a replacement bus for most of my "train" journey. That's 2.5 hours each way. Good chance to catch up on Netflix? Not really as there is no tray on the seats to prop the tablet up on. I do have a thrilling book on toddler behavior to read though. That's not a commute, that's going on a holiday to work. How long is this 'replacement service' supposed to last? 5 hours per day sitting still in a seat on a bus, hello leg cramps and DVT. I'm a patient person, but after two days of a 'commute' like that I'd be ready to commit bloody murder.

To see someone play a game at a high level and maybe learn something 3. You enjoy the personality of the streamer

I have a 40 min commute to work. Can work from multiple offices, one just five minutes walk away, and can work from home two days a week.
I have found that I actually do work when I work from home, but do enjoy a longer lunch break.

Two and a half hours commute? FYL. I cycled into work today. I have never done that before. Just over 14 miles. Later I have to make the decision whether to cycle home or just live here now. Games: none. Things that matter: a couple of pints last night. Living in/near the Greater Dover lorry park area I expect you'll get used to Shanks's pony and cycling.

You enjoy the personality of the streamer The Twitch scene is really taking off, on Reddit everyone always posts about Ninja, Tfue and the like. My nephew already has branded clothing (caps, t-shirts) of one streamer. Also, on Xbox they have a dedicated twitch channel on Xbox Live for your favourite games you can just dip into if you feel the need. I looked at a PUBG one and it was various squeaky voiced teens and they had to stop playing when one of them was called to dinner. Essential viewing. They will probably be as big a house hold names as premier league footballers one day.

I actually had DVT once too, pretty horrible thing to go through.

I'll watch a stream of a game I'm intending to buy, Or a game I play and I'm trying to get better at. Tbf that's all the games I own.
Sounds like there's enough folk with blops3 on PS4 for a game of multiplayer.
My commute is walk to top of street, get bus, get off bus after 5 mins, walk 2 mins to station, get train, get 2nd train, walk to work. All less than 2.5 hrs. 1hr 30 tops if the gods are against me.

I see Scubar professing to not understand people who watch eSports/Twitch at the other place I used to be the same but watched one by chance and was really getting into it. It was Fortnite, not even a game I play, too. Still only managed ~10 mins though, just until one of the 'commentators' called out an 'awesome play!' which was basically a guy building a ramp then jumping off . . .

Penny Arcade just did a couple of strips ( here & here) about D&D becoming an esport which were pretty good. Disclaimer: I've never played D&D, but I have enough of a grasp of it to get those.

I love the way any article at the other place that’s about the Simpsons just becomes a quote-a-thon in the comments.

True some streamers, esp. the big ones, are awful and rely on a certain shtick, but there are quite a few who are just good and fun to watch
