Thanks for the kind thoughts, one and all... Without games and the kindness of strangers, the travails of the last 5 years would have been impossible to bear. This week's litany of woes is a rather compressed version of my life. I have become Victor Meldrew... it now feels like a miracle if someone turns up on time and does what they have committed to do.
It's not just the NHS. Even though I am prepared to pay £25 an hour = £50 for a 2 hour cleaning stint, I expect a well-paid cleaner to turn up on time and work for that time AND, unbelievably, do a better job than a disabled, housebound old git who can't bend down past a certain point. The last one turned up late by 10-15 minutes, spent 5 minutes explaining why they were late and fossicked around making loads of noise, before pitching up in front of me to say she had to go early to get to her next job on time... Thus effectively increasing her pay to £33 an hour. All this to do a worse job than I do.
Or there's the cleaner who turned up and asked me why I was getting rid of my current cleaner as the house was cleaner than her own. I hadn't had a cleaner for 6 months then and was and am aware of all the corners I can't get to... And the one who insisted I get Windolene Emulsion Original Cream and then knocked over the cream all over the most expensive burgundy deep pile carpet in the house... or the one who turned up with her husband to 'help' her... Or the one who said they couldn't use my steam cleaner and then broke the one she said she knew how to us after I'd bought her the one she specified...
Or the one who in one spectacularly destructive visit broke 2 mugs, a plate, my dead mother's picture and finished it off by pulling the bedroom curtains off their fixings, ripping holes in the plaster, the curtains and breaking the curtain track... and then asked for her money...

I'm constantly refreshing in the hope of seeing crank's GTA V playtime. It's the only stat I reckon will make me feel less bad about my time on FFXIV.

Chumbles has put literally years of play time into Civilization IV with the Fall from Heaven 1.0g mod. You can see from his posts what that has done to him. |

Summary: filthy casual. A real badge and gun scenario.

Sub Nautica's free just now through the Epic Game launcher. So Fortniters already have access.
You'll all be relieved to learn that I successfully "borrowed" an oil cart in rdr2 this evening. All I needed was a plan. You'll hopefully be able to sleep soundly tonight.
