Is anyone stockpiling in case of the apocalypse? I was going to wait until the end of February or the beginning of March, but I'm worried that everyone will do the same, so I should get my panic buying in first. I really don't want to run out of baked beans.

Science fiction chatter..... I've just started reading the first of the Galactic Center series by Gregory Benford, In the Ocean of Night. He's an Astrophysicist as well as an author so it's going to be "Hard Science". It's a bit slow going in the early chapters. Are they worth sticking with. Any one read the series ? Published in 1977. Published when I was still reading a book every 2 days (in my teenage years I was voraciously getting through them, often 14-15 a week) I sort of liked this, but I found its author too keen on philosophizing... too self-indulgent - the brilliant ideas mixed in with the wacky. I did like the Jupiter project though Thanks, think I'll stick with it. My e-reader says 1,233 books which I've downloaded as Torrents.Crime and science fiction / fantasy mainly. But a lot of the authors I don't recognise so pick a book at random. Find I can't get into it so start another. Delete them all after a while and look at on line reviews, buy a few books. Then put Torrents back onto the e-reader and the cycle starts again.

I really don't want to run out of baked beans. I've stockpiled loads of whisky, wine and toilet paper. The first two aren't really a Brexit thing and the third is just because Tesco had loads cheap.

Advanced war fans, similar game Wargroove for PC, Switch and Xbox, PS4 later, review generally favourable

People are stock piling haricot beans in sheds and garages ready to go into home production. They will be asking a premium price as soon as stocks run low.

"Books which I've downloaded as Torrents which is a Crime"
FTFY.
(Although true, I'm on the wind up)

Informing people your are stockpiling seems a sure-fire way to ensure you're first on the list of doors to knock on/smash down.

I am a huge fan of Brin's Uplift War series that starts with Sundiver. But if you want a recommendation, the SF series I reread and now relisten most often is the Chanur saga by C J CherryhFast-paced, relentless action where humans are the aliens and the six species of Compact Space are the protagonists ... character-based Space opera - wonderful, marvellous stuff!

Myself and a friend are hosting an evening at the camera club tonight.
"AMIPAL IN DA HOOOOUSE!"
[plays incredibly obscene rap music as intro]
Either that'll kill-off some of the attendees or the weather will.

I am deeply unconvinced by the homoerotic lion covers.
They do not say high quality literature to me.

And I will buy books from Kobo that I've discovered via Torrents, so author's do profit from the system. I can down load books onto my e-reader from my local library now for off line reading. Chumbles recommendations are available via a torrent, but I won't* *I might

Sheep there, judging a book by its cover.
I'm back from hibernation. It's overrated.

So, those England cricketers eh? Marvellous. Jonny Bairstow didn't think much of your remark... knocks 15 off 5 balls to reach his 50...

Weeks must have been much longer in those days, or maths a little different. Calling me a liar, O'Berk of Berkshire? I read all three volumes of Lord of the Rings in 3 days... I had fuck all else to do. You must be a bloody journalist for the Telegraph to come out with snide little innuendoes like that. Edit: Cunt. No offence meant.

Browsing through the list of upcoming games I'm getting rather excited for this puzzle piece indie game called Glass Masquerade that's going to be released on consoles in February. It seems like the kind of game I need right now. Being able to play with something colourful on a screen is all that my simple mind wants these days.
Hmm. £3.99 on Steam, £10.79 on the e-shop? They must have seen me coming.*
