Morning.
Today is my Tuesday and the holiday cheer has well and truly worn off.
Managed to play a couple of games last night, though. Thief Simulator and Littlewood.
Thief Simulator is exactly as it sounds. You play as a burglar. Typical sim game but a bit of a different direction for once. 4 *s, if only because you get paid to smash peoples toilets.
Littlewood is a little town building game. Think Dark Cloud's town rebuilding bit with Stardew Valley graphics and interactions. Still in early access but doesn't half while away the time. Very much a 'just one more day' type of game. 4 *s.

I went for a walk yesterday evening up on the Tye, and managed to put my boot in the biggest sheep pat I've ever seen. I thought I'd lose the boot in it.

Proud parenting moment: Faceless jnr likes listening to the Beastie Boys. When I dropped him at nursery this morning he announced himself with "let's turn this motherfuckin party out"
It was actually pretty awkward.
No games.

I've just opened a news article and misread the title as 'FACEBOOK MODERATORS BREAK THEIR NADS TO EXPOSE DESPERATE WORKING CONDITIONS'. Would have made for a better article.
Games! Some Dota Underlords (a member of the Autochess family tree). Its a really good game. I was miles infront of the competition and then got complacent and came third. 4 stars.

When I was a Branch Librarian, my assistant (very prim and proper) regaled me with the exploits of her grandson. She booked a box and took her grandson to a panto... I was rather shocked when she proudly recounted how, when the villain was about to do evil stuff to the defenceless maiden, shouted into one of those lulls in the booing "Leave her alone you fukkin cunt". I wasn't too shocked the kid had done that (little sponges), rather more that my sainted assistant would use those words... |

I used to sing Shit on the Vxxxx to sooth a friend's baby. In a series of strange twists, the baby has since turned into the 11 year old left behind by a previous male, the friend is now the mammal who tolerates me, and the vxxxx are still shit.
Even though I have given him express permission to say shit on the vxxxx, and I have overheard him having a discussion about the word cunt with his cousin, he's weirdly reluctant to say shit in front of me.
This morning I accidentally broke a cup and said "fucking bollocks" in front of a 4 year old. Pretty certain she's heard worse from me, and so long as she learns when she can and can't swear, I don't give a shit.

I once had the dubious honour of looking after an in-laws French 8 year old girl, for a few days. I amused myself by encouraging her to fart copiously and loudly. This is something that was forbidden by her parents. She really enjoyed the freedom of expression.
Well, of course, her mother came to pick her up and during the evening the little girl let rip a belter. This did not go down well with her mother who administered a mighty bollocking in French.
Even now, 12 years later, the girl refers to me as 'Dirty Mr Tids'. I'm not sure how I feel about this.
Cool story etc..
[EDIT] That evening went sour very quickly after Fartgate, even the delightful Mr Tids received a bollocking in French. This was for the crime of saying how wonderful it had been to practice my French and teach the girl some English (OK, it was a box set of the Simpsons, same difference). It was something along the lines of 'Dirty English teaching my little girl to fart in front of others' and 'Your French is shit, even an 8 year old girl speaks better French than you'. Well she is French, so I'm not surprised.
I deployed a stiff upper lip response. In informed her mother that in MY country the guests do not insult the host, or you can fuck off to a hotel. I then retired for the evening.

Keith or Keza really should write a piece on Autochess, it started off as a mod of Dota 2 (itself a Valve remake of a Warcraft 3 mod), and has become insanely popular in a few months and now has two major gaming companies making their own versions of it (Underlords and Team Fight Tactics) and the original creators making their own standalone game for mobile and PC (Autochess Origins). It also has basically nothing to do with chess.

OTTM: I've had 2 coffees this morning, throwing caution to the wind. afternoooon allll! *cousin of Ian probably, I've been up since five this morning due to three Police vehicles pulling up slamming doors etc. no idea why, just when my brain had resurfaced I had my neighbours cousin who's staying due to a marital issue buzzing my doorbell at seven this morning, only to apologise for mistaking the number 8 for 7 and then to see both himself and said other exiting the lift, so a few (careful) choice words later they buggered off to the neighbours. luckily I was able to take my medication on time today (at 9 am) due to the early shenanigans, hence my turn as a zombie beforehand. #nothappy OTTM: binged Jess Jones last night, next is Designated Surveyor. |
