Yes, fortunately I got some Hittites for you to to bridge the gap. That is a distinctly iffy topic; I like it. Cap doffed. I'll get looking into the Hittites. The segment on child sacrifice in the Bible. That's going to test my listener. I'm in the process of getting together whatever I can find, also some remarks on the Biblical child sacrifice, I'll put it in a message tomorrow.

What's up with Blizzard? Have they not done enough effics? They banned a guy who won at one of their tournaments for shouting pro- Hong Kong demonstrator stuff, in line with the t&cs (no political shit*). Now the world** is going mad because they believe Blizzards reaction is because they 'just want the China money at the expense of efics'. In reality, if a pro- China player had won and shouted support for them and Blizz took the same stance they would've been branded heroes. N.B. - I'm not trivialising the situation in Hong Kong in any way here, I can only imagine how much of a shitty situation they're in at the minute, just the reaction to a guy being banned from playing a FUCKING GAME for 6 months*** for breaking rules he signed up for. *Not exact wording from the T&Cs here but it's the jist. **A small section of people reacting extremely. ***After which I'm fairly certain he'll be back playing, despite all of his followers no longer being able to. . . I wrote a long bit about how wrong I thought you were but life is too short. From Blizzard's mission statement: "every voice MATTERS Great ideas can come from anywhere. Blizzard Entertainment is what it is today because of the voices of our players and of each member of the company. Every employee is encouraged to speak up, listen, be respectful of other opinions, and embrace criticism as just another avenue for great ideas." <edit> and "think GLOBALLY Everywhere on the planet there are people who play Blizzard Entertainment games. While respecting the cultural diversity that makes people unique, we strive to grow and support our global gaming community." "lead RESPONSIBLY Our products and practices can affect not only our employees and players -- but the industry at large. As one of the world’s leading game companies, we’re committed to making ethical decisions, always keeping our players in mind, and setting a strong example of professionalism and excellence at all times."

Wasn't Gehenna the place where Child sacrifice took place? There's some interesting stuff on wiki about it. The Torah compilers after they discovered monotheism in Babylon failed to retcon Jeremiah properly to show the Jews had always been monotheistic and had never practised child sacrifice.

I'm watching Richie Cunningham's Apollo 13.
A great film, even without The Fonz.
4 stars.

I wrote a long bit about how wrong I thought you were but life is too short. My point still stands, the reaction by Blizzard was in line with the terms of competing in their E-Sports. The reaction from the 'boycotters' is in support of what the guy actually shouted support for. I'm not saying either is wrong, in fact it's quite the opposite, I think both sides are right. If, however, the guy continues his support for the Hong Kong activists and, after his ban is served, Blizzard refuse to let him compete because of his beliefs then it's a completely different situation and Blizz will deserve all the shit that comes their way. I did see that Epic have done their usual of trying to cash in, though. Stating that anyone is free to express their political views in Fortnite tournaments. Wonder how long before this is tested . . .

Don't know that one but it's a fascinating story. There are many projects aiming to compile and compare all manuscripts of the Bible, including one in Birmingham on the Gospel of John a few years ago, and boy does it make fascinating reading. The Preferred Mammal has always been dreaming of one day doing the same for the Qur'an, because early manuscripts and quotes deviate quite a bit from the standard text. But he doesn't want a death warrant in his name, so he never did. (It's like he wishes for peace in the Middle East so that he could one day drive a hire car with Israeli licence plates from Tel Aviv to Baghdad and park it in front of the British embassy. As one friend put it: "If there's other stuff you want to do, maybe do it first.")

Which would be fair enough if Blizzard's T&C's weren't so woolly that they could ban anyone, I'd be interested if they'd have done the same thing to a Brit protesting against Brexit.
